Winter sports enthusiasts appreciate the Schnalstal for two reasons. On the one hand, you can make your turns in the snow away from the hustle and bustle of large ski areas. On the other hand, the perfectly groomed 35 kilometers of slopes are absolutely snow-sure. The runs are divided into 8km of easy slopes, 11km of medium slopes, and 16km of difficult slopes. The highlight at the end of a day of skiing: the 8km long descent directly into the valley. The season at the Schnalstal Glacier lasts well into spring, making it a popular training area for professional athletes. Families also enjoy coming to the Schnalstal. Here, parents benefit from a particularly practical service. The little ones are looked after for free (when staying in a Schnalstal member establishment) at the ÖtziLino Club. While the kids let off steam at the winter playground, the parents can enjoy the beauty of the slopes in peace. In addition, the following applies to young skiers: all children under 6 years old ski for free.
Schnalstal Glacier Ski Resort
Family-friendly ski resort
Due to its unique location in the middle of the Ötztal Alps, the Schnalstal is a popular meeting point for ski tourers. The three-thousanders can be conquered almost effortlessly here. For those who still seek a challenge, the demanding tour to the Weißkugel at 3,738m is recommended. On the other hand, a historical journey of discovery is the tour to the Steinschlagjoch (3,350m). It passes by the site where Ötzi (the Iceman) was found, but is only suitable for experienced and confident skiers. A prerequisite for any tour is sufficient knowledge of the mountain and avalanche situation. Those who wish can be accompanied by a local mountain guide.
Fun in the snow park
In the Schnalstal, there is a special place for snowboarders and freestylers, which is why there are two fun parks here: the snow park in the valley and the Gentlemenriders Nitro Snowpark on the glacier. The latter covers an area of 135,000m² and offers everything your heart desires.
Off-piste skiing
For off-piste skiers to seek their own path, explore nature, or glide through the deep snow with pleasure: in the Schnalstal, there are numerous opportunities for variant skiers. Once a year, the so-called Freeride Hero is also crowned here. The race for first place starts at an impressive 3,034m altitude on the Teufelsegg.
A tip from ski instructor Vroni from South Tyrol. She loves the sun, the snow, loud laughter, and children.
