With 21 state-of-the-art gondola lifts, 4 chairlifts, and 6 drag lifts leading to the extensive, mostly treeless, and gently sloping summit of the panoramic mountain Kronplatz from three sides, this ski area offers outstanding infrastructure. Thanks to an impressive transport capacity of 71,000 people per hour, the 31 lifts are rarely fully utilized, resulting in minimal waiting times at the ascent facilities.
Over 100 km of meticulously groomed slopes await winter sports enthusiasts in the Kronplatz ski area. The advanced snowmaking facilities allow for complete snow coverage of all slopes, while 32 powerful snow groomers and around 250 dedicated employees ensure perfect conditions.
Kronplatz, known as the number one ski mountain in South Tyrol, also attracts snowboarders with two attractive snow parks. The diverse range of slopes includes easy slopes for beginners as well as challenging descents for advanced skiers. Particularly noteworthy are the six valley runs, which are often skiable until late winter, including the 6.5 km long route to Olang with a vertical drop of 1,170 m and the flat 6 km long route to St. Vigil, which overcomes 1,070 m in altitude. For experienced skiers, the more than 5 km long slopes Silvester and Hernegg, which lead from the summit to the valley station Reischach and cover a vertical drop of 1,300 m, offer an exceptional experience.
A special convenience is the connection of the ski area to the regional railway network, allowing skiers to forgo private vehicles and instead use the Ski Pustertal Express for their daily arrival. This train connection offers a convenient shuttle service between the Kronplatz and the Sextner Dolomites ski areas every 30 minutes.
A significant milestone was reached in the winter of 2006/07, when Kronplatz obtained direct access to the Sellaronda ski carousel with the opening of the "Piculin" gondola lift and the associated black slope. This significantly improved the connection to the Alta Badia ski region and was optimally complemented by an efficient low-floor bus system operating every 20 minutes.
