Winter vacation in Tyrol: New arrival options with public transport

In Tyrol, the arrival by train has been promoted for some time, and by now there are very attractive offers especially from Italy, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria, and these are constantly being expanded.

This is how the direct connection RJX1062 from Vienna to the Kitzbühel Alps will operate year-round from December 10th. Lienz in East Tyrol will also be more strongly connected, where new express train connections can be used from Vienna from Friday to Sunday. The Westbahn now runs five times a day from Vienna to Tyrol and back. From Germany, the express train connection with the ICE1211 or the ICE1218 from Hamburg is also being modernized.

Sustainable winter vacation

Below you will find a list of existing and new train connections for the winter season 2023/24, so you can easily travel to Tyrol by train:

From Germany to Tyrol

New connection of the DB:

  • ICE from Dortmund, which then runs via Cologne, Bonn, Mannheim, Stuttgart and Ulm to Tyrol and stops in St. Anton am Arlberg, Landeck-Zams, Imst, Ötztal, Tels-Pfaffenhofen and Innsbruck. (1x per day from the timetable change)
  • ICE4 from Hamburg or Berlin and then to Hannover, Mannheim, Stuttgart, Ulm or Munich to Tyrol with stops in Kufstein, Wörgl, Jenbach and Innsbruck (1x per day with a total of twelve cars)

Transfer connections from Germany via Munich

  • 7x per day from Munich to Italy with stops in Kufstein, Wörgl, Jenbach or Innsbruck
  • 1x per day direct connection from Frankfurt via Darmstadt, Heidelberg, Stuttgart, Ulm and Langen am Arlberg to Tyrol with stops in Landeck-Zams, Imst-Pitztal, Innsbruck, Jenbach or Wörgl
  • 1x per day with the ÖBB Nightjet from Hamburg to Innsbruck
  • 1x per day with the ICE "Karwendel" from Hamburg to Seefeld in Tyrol or Innsbruck (from March 1st to December 14th, 2024)

Note: Due to construction work in Germany, there will be no ICE from Germany to Seefeld or Innsbruck until the end of February. However, you can travel to Seefeld via Kufstein or Innsbruck.

Additional travel options from Germany to Tyrol in the winter season 2023/24:

  • ICE "Wetterstein" from Hamburg via Hannover or Munich to Seefeld and Innsbruck (from March 2nd to December 14th, 2024 on Saturdays)
  • ICE "Großglockner" from Hamburg to Tyrol (from March 1st to April 7th, 2024, Fridays to Tyrol with return options on Sundays) or on Saturdays from Munich (from December 16th, 2023 to April 6th, 2024 and on December 24th, 25th and 31st, 2023 or on March 29th and 31st, 2024)
  • ICE "Ski Express Tyrol" from Hamburg to St. Anton am Arlberg with stops in Kufstein, Wörgl, Jenbach, Innsbruck, Ötztal, Imst and Landeck-Zams (from December 23rd, 2023 to March 30th, 2024)
  • RJ "Tirol" from Munich to the Arlberg with stops in Kufstein, Wörgl, Jenbach or Innsbruck (Saturdays starting from December 23rd, 2023 to April 6th, 2024)

Arrival from the Austrian federal states

  • 16 times a day with the Railjet Xpress from Vienna to Tyrol with stops in Kufstein, Wörgl, Jenbach, Innsbruck, Ötztal, Landeck-Zams and Langen am Arlberg
  • 2x per day with the Euro or Intercity from Graz to Tyrol with stops in St. Johann in Tyrol, Kitzbühel, Kirchberg in Tyrol, Wörgl, Jenbach, Innsbruck, Ötztal, Landeck-Zams or St. Anton am Arlberg
  • Three weekend connections with the Railjet/D-Zug from Vienna to Wörgl (from December 16th, 2023 to April 7th, 2024)
  • Four additional connections on weekends with the Railjet, Intercity or D-Zug from Vienna to Lienz
  • 1x per day from Graz with the ÖBB Nightjet towards Zurich via Innsbruck, Landeck and St. Anton am Arlberg

Arrival options from the Netherlands to Tyrol

  • Daily from Amsterdam Centraal with the ÖBB Nightjet via Utrecht to Tyrol with stops in Innsbruck, Jenbach, Wörgl or Kufstein
  • From Amsterdam with the TUI Ski Express via Utrecht to Innsbruck and various stops at the regional train stations in Tyrol

Arrival from Switzerland to Tyrol

  • 1x per day from Zurich with the Eurocity "Transalpin" to Tyrol
  • 6x per day with the Railjet Express from Zurich towards Salzburg, Vienna or Budapest with stops in Innsbruck, St. Anton am Arlberg, Landeck, Ötztal, Wörgl and Kufstein

Train arrival from Italy to Tyrol

  • 5x per day with the Eurocity/Railjet from Verona to Tyrol
  • 2x per day with the Eurocity/Railjet from Bologna to Tyrol
  • 2x per day with the Eurocity/Railjet from Venice to Tyrol
  • 1x per day with the Eurocity/Railjet from Rimini to Tyrol
  • New connection: 2x per day with the regional REX from Bolzano to Tyrol

Arrival from Scandinavia to Tyrol

In the winter season, the night train and winter ski express Snalltaghet runs from Malmö via Copenhagen to Tyrol with stops in St. Johann, Kitzbühel, Wörgl or Jenbach and Innsbruck, then you can continue by bus to the Zillertal, Ischgl, Sölden or St. Anton am Arlberg (from December 22nd, 2023 to March 30th, 2024).

Arrival from the Czech Republic to Tyrol

  • 1x per day with the EuroNight from Prague to Innsbruck or Landeck
