At around 2270 meters above Innsbruck is the mountain station of the Nordkette cable car. Visitors can take the train from the city center to Hungerburg in just twenty minutes to admire the extraordinary train stations designed by the famous architect Zaha Hadid. Then it continues to Seegrube or Hafelekar. Here, guests can enjoy a unique view of the state capital, the middle Inntal, the Zillertal and Stubai Alps, and the Dolomites.
Best Panorama: Recommended viewpoints for your Tyrol vacation
Another scenic mountain is the Zugspitze, which can be reached with the Tyrolean Zugspitzbahn. The valley station is located in the west of Ehrwald at 1225 meters. The journey itself is already a very impressive experience, as it takes mountain lovers to almost 3000 meters, from where they can enjoy the panoramic view of a total of four countries. In good weather, you can also see Piz Bernina, the Großglockner, and the television tower in Munich.
Viewpoint Stubai Glacier
The "Top of Tyrol" summit platform is also ideal for breathtaking long-distance views. The Schaufeljoch mountain station is located at 3160 meters and can be reached by cable car. After a short walk, visitors then come to the "Top of Tyrol" platform, an architectural feature made of Carten steel. Here too, you will be rewarded with a very special view: you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Ortler massif, the Dolomites, and the Stubai Alps.
On the way on the Eagle's Path
The Eagle's Trail, a well-known long-distance hiking trail in Tyrol, also offers very beautiful viewpoints. The viewpoints even have special telescopes equipped with the latest technology that can be used free of charge. For example, you can display information about the route and the individual mountains, so that the stage to the next viewpoint can be followed.
Breathtaking view of three countries
Also very beautiful is the panorama from the viewing platform at Dreiländerblick. Visitors can reach the platform with the 8-seater gondola Karlesjoch, from where they can see numerous mountain peaks in Austria, Switzerland, and Italy.
An absolute insider tip is the Eagle's Nest in the Rofan Mountains. The platform is designed to resemble an eagle's nest and offers a unique panorama of the Rofan and Lake Achensee. The very brave can also take the AirRofan Skyglider to the Gschöllkopf and then glide to the mountain station at 85km/h.
