Ischgl enjoys international renown as a popular ski resort far beyond the borders. Located in the Paznaun between the Silvretta and Verwall groups, visitors are greeted with one of the largest ski regions in the Alps.
The "Silvretta Arena" ski area is particularly snow-sure and extends to the neighboring Samnaun in Switzerland.
More than 200 kilometers of slopes and over 40 lifts speak for themselves. In addition to the giant slalom track, the rapid skiers can also enjoy a steep descent with a 70% gradient, some mogul slopes, and the Ischgl Snowpark on the Idalp. And with the ski slope "Eleven", Ischgl has one of the longest ski slopes in Austria. The name says it all, because over a length of 11 kilometers, you can prove your endurance here.
Vacation in Ischgl
Summer vacation
Even in the warm season, the mountain lifts do not rest and help hikers to tackle the 300 kilometers of hiking trails through the magnificent nature. Mountain bikers can also indulge here, because the lift takes you to about 2,800 meters in height, from where an adventurous downhill experience is guaranteed. With more than 1,200 kilometers of cycling tours, you will find one of the largest cycling regions in the Alps here. Last but not least, in August, the highest-paid mountain bike marathon race in Europe takes place here - the "Ischgl Ironbike", which is held on 3 different length routes. The longest of these comes close to a proud 80 kilometers.
The action continues on the via ferratas in Ischgl. The Flimspitze climbing trail is accessible by a short hike from the Flimjochbahn mountain station. Climbing to the summit cross is also manageable for less experienced mountaineers. Once you have climbed the highest mountain in the ski area (3,000 meters!), you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Silvretta region.
Around the water
After all the adrenaline kicks, a cooling dip in the fresh water is a treat for the body. Numerous lakes in the region attract hikers to their shores. From Ischgl, you can hike along the Madleinbach to the Madleinsee, which will especially be loved by children: Here, in summer, the sheep graze, and they will surely enjoy being fed.
On the Idalp - easily accessible by cable car in connection with a short hike - you will find the Schwarzwassersee. Surrounded by forest, it is an idyllic place to cast your bait. In the crystal-clear water, there are some fish that can be caught with a license.
Another gem is the Pardatschersee. Through the Fimbatal, you hike along a clear mountain stream - the Fimbach - to the water paradise. Here, you can observe newts, frogs, dragonflies, and several other animals.
The fun continues at the "Vider Truja" adventure park, which extends around the charming Vidersee. This adventure path revolves around the theme of water. A water mill, a water playground, and a climbing structure provide fun for the little ones. And for the adults, there is something special here with the barefoot water path. Bathed in fresh mountain water, tired feet and the circulation quickly find new energy.
And as the day comes to an end, Ischgl is immersed in a glittering sea of clubs, bars, and discos, proving that not only big cities can offer top DJs and trendy venues.
