Vacation in Obsteig

Obsteig is located at the foot of the Mieminger Mountains and, together with a few other communities, makes up the Mieminger Plateau. The location is well chosen, as the region enjoys more than 2,000 hours of sunshine, making it one of the friendliest places in Tyrol. Situated above the Upper Inn Valley at an altitude of 1,000 meters, it provides an ideal holiday setting in both summer and winter.

The hiking paradise on the Mieming Plateau

Hikers and Nordic walkers will find ideal conditions for their sporting activities here. The larch meadows around Obsteig are under landscape protection, providing an idyllic backdrop. Just above Telfs, the Peace Bell Hiking Trail awaits you. The bell rings daily as a symbol of peaceful coexistence in the region. In addition to a variety of natural hiking trails, the Mieminger Plateau has 16 Nordic walking routes.

And modern adventurers will find their calling in geocaching - a fun treasure hunt in the great outdoors using GPS devices and coordinates. The necessary technical equipment can be rented from the Obsteig tourist office.

Cycling enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy on the Mieminger Plateau - many routes start from Obsteig, such as the road cycling route to Pfaffenhofen. Mountain bikers can head to destinations such as Grünberg or Simmeringalm, while families are best suited to the Inn Cycle Path along the river. Obsteig has also embraced progress, offering e-bike tours.

Happiness on the back of horses

Other highlights of a summer holiday on the Mieminger Plateau include horses. In addition to horse-drawn carriage rides, there is also the opportunity to saddle up yourself. Furthermore, the region focuses on the therapeutic effects of horseback riding - hippotherapy is the solution for treating disc problems. The movements of the horse distribute vibration impulses that contribute to recovery.

When the summer heat becomes too much, a dip in the cool waters can help. On the shores of Lake Mieming, beach volleyball players engage in heated battles in the sand.

And for those who prefer a more secluded and tranquil experience, a visit to Möserer See is recommended. This natural gem is located in the forest near Mösern, just a few kilometers above Telfs.

The "Alpinpark" also extends over Obsteig - a project that combines nature with regional culture and history. Even children will feel at home on selected theme trails with information panels. In addition to explaining the regional ecosystem, the focus is on strengthening awareness of Mieming's folk traditions.

A touch of the region's history can be experienced by visiting the baroque Cistercian Abbey of Stams. Between the princely crypt and the orangery, it is primarily the Tree of Life altar in the abbey church that attracts culturally interested visitors to this place. In the monastery shop, you can choose between brandies, jams, and honey from their own production.

Winter fun on mountain and valley

And when winter returns, skis and snowboards are strapped on everywhere, as the magic of the slopes is also at home on the Mieminger Plateau. Alternatively, snowshoe hikes can be undertaken - even Nordic walking works exceptionally well in the snow. The next stop is the Grünberglift in Obsteig, where curling is popular, or at Lake Mieming, which turns into a 900 m2 ice skating rink in winter.

Obsteig is a good choice at any time of year.
