The gate to the Pitztal

Vacation in Arzl

The village of Arzl is located at 883 meters above sea level at the beginning of the Pitztal. In this idyllic place, which is now popular for the well-loved "summer retreat," around 3000 residents have settled. Arzl is surrounded by an impressive mountain landscape. Here, the Venet (2513 meters), the Tschirgant (2372 meters), the Sechszeiger (2387 meters), and the Wildgrat (2964 meters) tower above. The panorama can be enjoyed not only with a coffee on the sun terrace, but also on a hike through green meadows and dreamy hamlets. The favorable climatic conditions of the Pitztal appeal especially to passionate active holidaymakers. The surrounding mountain ranges serve as protection from wind and weather, and numerous hours of sunshine ensure good spirits and enjoyment of outdoor activities.

In winter, "hitting the slopes" takes center stage in and around Arzl. In the Pitztal, you can enjoy skiing, carving, or snowboarding to your heart's content. The ski areas "Hochzeiger-Jerzens," the Pitztaler Glacier, and the ski area "Riffelsee" are nearby and easily accessible by car or ski buses. In the Hochzeiger ski area alone, 52 kilometers of well-maintained slopes are available. 9 mountain lifts ensure safe and rapid transport up the mountain. In addition to a dedicated children's area, there is also a 6-kilometer-long toboggan run that is illuminated and therefore accessible in the evenings.

Thrills on the Benni-Raich Bridge

Those looking for a special "thrill" during their vacation should visit the Benni-Raich Bridge. It was named after the successful Austrian skier Benjamin Raich, who was born in Arzl and made his first turns in the snow in the Hochzeiger ski area. The 1.5-meter-wide pedestrian suspension bridge connects the forest with Arzl and is located at a height of 95 meters.

Tipp: bungee jumping is also offered on this bridge. Particularly brave individuals can take a leap into the depths with professional equipment and under professional guidance.

As a contrast, one can then head to the Plattnerrainalm. At an altitude of 1500 meters, you can enjoy a magnificent all-round view and let your soul dangle. The light-filled meditation chapel offers shelter for those seeking peace and helps to restore emotional balance. You can also relax by observing the majestic animals that have settled in the wildlife enclosure high up on the mountain.

Action in the Area 47

One thing is definitely not on the agenda in Arzl: boredom. In addition to popular events such as the "Spiel mit mir Wochen," the Gletschermarathon, or the 3rd Pitztaler Schmankerltag, just a few kilometers from Arzl is the so-called Area 47. This is a spacious outdoor and adventure area named after its location (the 47th parallel). On 66,000km2, sports enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies will find everything their hearts desire. The Area 47 is home to the "Climbers Paradise," the world's largest high ropes climbing garden. You can get thoroughly wet in the "Water Area." Here, a slide park, a diving tower, a water ramp, and a climbing rock that hangs over the bathing lake await adventurous holidaymakers.
