Vacation in Wenns in the Pitztal

At the junction to the beautiful Pillerhöhe, which at 1559 meters above sea level connects the Upper Inn Valley with the Pitztal, lies the municipality of Wenns in the Pitztal. About 2000 inhabitants live here and enjoy coziness and tradition 365 days a year. The location of the village could not have been better: clusters of houses, farms, and inns nestle gently on the green valley floor, with a church tower rising in the middle and strong mountain ridges flashing on the left and right. Here, active holidaymakers find ideal conditions for a few harmonious days in every season, which, given the beautiful surroundings, they would prefer to spend in the great outdoors.

In summer, numerous hiking trails invite you to get to know the land and its people better. For example, on a circular walk to the Pitzenhöfen, you stroll through the historic district of Wenns; past the war memorial, the so-called Platzhaus (once home to the village bailiff), and the pretty village church. However, those who wish can also visit the oldest farmhouse in Tyrol. It was built in Wenns and has been standing there for a respectable 700 years. In winter, when the landscape is covered in beautiful white, holidaymakers are drawn to the surrounding ski areas. The Hochzeiger area is only 10 kilometers away, the Pitztaler Glacier and the Rifflsee ski area can be reached after 30 kilometers. However, real winter fun is provided not only by the skis, which mean the world to some, but also by romantic sleigh rides, fast toboggan runs, or extensive cross-country ski tours.

Leisure activities for young and old

Anyone who comes to Wenns in the Pitztal with the whole family wishes for plenty of variety for young and old. Numerous leisure activities in and around the natural community guarantee that boredom is not on the daily program. And this is what you can experience: during archery, concentration and accuracy are trained under expert guidance. Afterwards, a short visit to the "Pitzi-Club" is followed by another outing into the great outdoors.

The Piller Moor is one of the most beautiful high moors in Europe. Nestled in a magnificent alpine setting, a very special ecosystem has formed here. The spread of the moor is based on the natural cycle of dying and growing, and in the midst of this ecologically unique environment, a plant and animal world can develop that typically only occurs in moorland landscapes. On particularly hot days, cooling off is in high demand, and this can be found at the Piller landscape pond. The natural bathing pond invites you to splash and play, while the surrounding meadows are perfect for relaxing and unwinding.

Kaunergrat Nature Park

The Pitztal and Kaunertal share a very special treasure: the Kaunergrat Nature Park. Depending on the season, there is a suitable program for every temperature here. In winter, you can go snowshoeing, go on a track search with the hunter, or enjoy fun games in the snow. In summer, an experienced guide leads through the nature park experience area and reveals some well-kept secrets. The exhibition "3000 Meters Vertical" in the modern nature park house provides even more background information. With the help of interactive elements and a sophisticated exhibition concept, you can learn everything you need to know about the high alpine habitat here.
