Romantic gem in the midst of the Kitzbühel Alps

Vacation in Kirchberg

The small holiday resort of Kirchberg is located at an altitude of 837 to 2366 meters between Brixen and the well-known winter sports resort of Kitzbühel. The municipality with its almost 5200 inhabitants owes its name to the church on the mountain. The legend dates back to the 14th century. Once a church was to be built in the town center. The roofers were about to start work when doves flew in and snatched the roof shingles. After a short time, the villagers discovered that the birds had placed the shingles high up on the mountain. So they decided to build the church at this location. Today, the church still towers protectively over the village - a visit is worthwhile, as a beautiful, large Madonna picture is attached to the outside. The locals are proud of this story and "their" church on the mountain.

However, the most beautiful stories are still told by the surrounding nature. Kirchberg is the ideal starting point for adventure trips into the world of the Kitzbühel grass mountains. Whether on foot or by mountain bike - here everyone will find a beautiful spot for themselves at least. Some enjoy the view of the impressive Kitzbühel Alps, while others refresh themselves in the Kneipp facility in Aschau. This is located in the nearby Spertental and has now become a popular meeting place for active holidaymakers. Kneipping has been proven to strengthen the immune system and keep the circulation going. The younger Kneipp guests have also been thought of: right next to the children's playground there is a water wheel, a trampled path, a wading pool, and two conventional Kneipp pools. This way, even the little ones can refresh themselves.

Treasure hunt

In Kirchberg, you will find many passionate treasure hunters - geocaching has become a real holiday trend here. Equipped with a GPS device, geocachers search for larger and smaller treasures hidden in the mountains around Kirchberg. Not only endurance and skill are required, but also logical thinking. Once the treasure (small plastic containers) has been discovered, the clues to the next treasure can be found there. In many cases, the coordinates for the new target point are hidden behind a tricky puzzle that must be solved first.

Those who are looking for even more excitement and thrills must not miss the Fleckalm Trail. Over a length of 7.5 kilometers, more than 1000 meters in altitude must be overcome - the route is rightly considered the longest single trail in Tyrol. In addition to the right equipment, ambitious bikers should also bring some experience, as medium sections alternate with challenging sections here.

Sea of flowers

In August, the whole of Kirchberg shines in a special light. At this time, the traditional flower parade takes place in summer. More than 40 beautifully decorated cars and vintage cars take part in this event - the most beautiful flowers in the world are presented in the parade. However, the vehicles are not only adorned with the fragrant splendor, but also with artistically crafted figures from fairy tales and fables. You can warm up in the morning at the "Frühshoppen" with funny musicians, then go to the flower parade before ending the day at the evening summer festival.
