Vacation in the Brixental

The idyllic Brixental is located in the southeast of the Tyrolean Unterinntal and can, if you will, be seen as a connecting piece between the famous Kitzbühel and the beautiful Inntal. In this valley, typical narrow spots or shady hills are sought in vain. The 30km long Brixental is open and wide - it has lush green meadows and gently sloping alpine pastures. Nevertheless, you don't have to do without an alpine panorama, because the impressive Kitzbühel Alps are just a stone's throw away. The same goes for the famous winter sports resort of Kitzbühel. In just 10 minutes you can reach the favorite domicile of the beautiful and rich - there you can enjoy your coffee and the colorful hustle and bustle on a noble sun terrace. It is quieter and more contemplative in the surrounding communities. In Hopfgarten, Brixen im Thale, Westendorf and Kirchberg, vacationers will encounter warm Tyrolean hospitality. Whether a small bed and breakfast, full service in a hotel, or a "middle of it all" experience on a farm - here both adults and children get their money's worth.

The magnificent nature surrounding the Brixental is suitable for all kinds of leisure activities in summer and winter. The warm season makes the enthusiastic hiker's heart beat faster: on hiking trails that together cover more than 500km, you can literally walk your feet off. It's a bit faster with the mountain bike. If you need a little practice, you should visit the 1st mountain bike school in Austria. None other than the national coach Kurt Exenberger is on hand to help beginners and advanced riders - including practical training.

Discover nature

A highlight for hikers and family vacationers is the Brixner Hiking Butterfly. Here you have the choice between 5 different hiking trails: Brixner Gangl, Wappenweg, Silberweg, Urzeitweg and Almrosenweg. Each trail has its own color and a butterfly as a symbol. So even those unfamiliar with the area can easily find their way around. If you want to spare your joints or are a "hiking beginner," the Brixner Butterfly is the right place for you. All routes lead through safe terrain, and there are also numerous mountain lifts available to make the ascent or descent easier.

Tipp: Families should plan a day at the beautiful Filzalmsee. The nature adventure world is located high up in the mountains (you can reach it with the Hochbrixen gondola) and offers varied leisure fun for the little ones. In the forest sound workshop, young musicians can let off steam, in the moor biotope with a peep box, hobby biologists can learn all about the creatures and plants living there, the Kneipp arm bath provides refreshment for young and old, and the tree huts guarantee fun adventures amidst strong treetops.

Experience tradition

In addition to numerous leisure activities, the summer in Brixental also offers two cultural events. At the Brixner Almfest and the Brixner Bergleuchten, you can experience the region's customs and traditions up close. Many Brixen landlords and farmers participate in the Almfest and serve all kinds of specialties and delicacies. Craftspeople exhibit their works of art, while cheerful musicians invite you to dance. At the Brixner Bergleuchten, more than 40,000 torches on the mountain slopes of the valley create a special spectacle. They are arranged in pictures and come to life after dark.
