Lienz is also a pioneer in the new Nordic sports: Nordic walking and Nordic blading can be practiced here, as well as Nordic skiing and Nordic snowshoeing in winter.

In the winter holiday, skiers and snowboarders will find a beautiful and not yet overcrowded ski area on the local mountains Hochstein and Zettersfeld, where regular ski World Cup races also take place. A total of 40 km of slopes, including a fun park, guarantee an undisturbed holiday pleasure. Winter hiking and snowshoeing are also wonderful in the Lienz mountains. There are 110 km of cross-country trails available for cross-country skiing, and numerous natural toboggan runs with up to 7.5 km in length. As an additional attraction for your holiday, a new, 2.7 km long year-round toboggan run on Hochstein will be opened in the 2010 winter season!
