I am: Passionate singer and photographer. Not good at passionate singing and photography. Cheerful. Likes to be on the go. Honest. Tolerant. Enjoys being in company. Very often not well-rested.
Things I like:
Old movies. Good manners. Both red and white wine, in larger quantities if appropriate. Singing. Playing the guitar. Woody Allen. Vernissages. Beautiful landscapes. Themed parties. Flea markets. Live concerts. Hot summer days. Green oil paint. Fireplace. Swimming.
Don't like:
Cruelty. Injustice. Skyscrapers. Selfish people. Mediocrity. Superficiality. Having to cook for more than six people. Snobbery. Fear of existence. Fitting rooms. Chain letters announcing the end of the world if not forwarded immediately. Savings accounts.
I used to think:
- We are better than we think.
- I am every mother-in-law's dream.
- Clouds were made of cotton candy.
Today I know:
- It's all very different.
- Maturity does not necessarily have to do with age.
Things I've been told:
- You are one of the funniest people I've ever met.
- It's better to smile too much than too little.
- Because the moment counts.
- You can live in castles in the air for a while.
Books of my life:
- The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen (A story of misunderstandings and dependencies. A finely drawn picture of an average American family)
- A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving (A book about friendship but also the clichés of society)
- World's End by T.C. Boyle (An American saga that plays on two levels and introduces the social history of America in a very exciting way)
- Everyman by Philip Roth (A sad but brilliant book about old age)
Wow feelings in South Tyrol
The Bauernkuchl in Hinterpasseier, where you can enjoy hearty dumplings or trout. The Merano flea market every last Saturday of the month. The gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle. The Algund irrigation channel path. The Langental in Wolkenstein.
Tips for art and culture fans
When it comes to art and culture, Merano has a lot to offer. Very renowned artists are repeatedly drawn to the city for exhibitions. An absolute highlight is certainly the gallery "kunst Meran", which sees itself as a platform for contemporary forms in the fields of art, literature, architecture, or photography. The street art festival Asfaltart, which takes place in Merano every June, is also particularly great.
