The ski resort Meran 2000 is just a few minutes by car from Meran. A large parking lot awaits you at the base station of the cable car. But even those without a car can get here by public bus. It then takes only a few minutes to reach the mountain station and after a short walk you will arrive at the toboggan run. Here, it goes downhill for 1.1 kilometers on a sled. During the fast and winding ride through the forest and meadows, you will experience the occasional adrenaline rush – because at times you race at a height of 12 meters above the ground. So it's best to leave weak nerves at home. But do not worry – the safety system with brake bands and safety nets at tricky spots takes care that nothing happens to you.
The height difference of 150 meters – the starting point is at an altitude of about 1,900 meters – is covered in a brisk three to five minutes. This is referred to as the first year-round mountain roller coaster in South Tyrol and the longest rail toboggan run in Italy – and conquering it is a worthwhile goal for both children and adults, so that the diary can be fed with another exciting story.
Once at the bottom, you can have a souvenir photo handed out (which then also fits perfectly into the diary) and also check your achieved speed. Perhaps a new track record has been set. Afterwards, you will of course be pulled back up to the starting point.
Children must ride with an adult. From the age of 10, they can then steer the sled on their own and feel like real racers.
