Experience with all senses

Holiday in Prato allo Stelvio / Prad am Stilfserhoch

When visiting the holiday resort of Prato allo Stelvio / Prad am Stilfserjoch, one has the feeling of being nestled between two different worlds. On one side, the striking mountain ranges of the Stelvio National Park rise up, while on the other side, the valley floor spreads out, where meadows as well as fruit and vegetable gardens can be found. The town itself is also a varied mixture of tradition and modernity. Tradition is still alive in Prad, and visitors should take the opportunity to visit the various historical cultural treasures - such as the St. Johann Church or the ruins of the Lichtenberg Castle. And of course, there are countless opportunities here for visitors to experience the breathtaking nature with all their senses.

Exciting hikes for young and old

The dreamy mountain world is best discovered as part of a hiking tour, including the Archaikweg, which leads the mountain enthusiasts from Prad to Stilfs. This well-known trail connects the Vinschgau Valley with the Vinschgau and follows mostly old cart and pack animal trails, also known as Wormisionssteige. For families with children, the "Gumperle" forest animal trail is highly recommended, which playfully conveys a lot of interesting information about the local forest animals. In total, 13 stations await the big and small visitors, where they can go on a search for traces and pass various tests. On the other hand, the pine forest, the dry meadow of the "Prader Sand," and the unique wild river landscape on the Suldenbach can be explored on the "Prader Sand" nature experience trail. Here, 19 experience stations offer numerous activities and experiences. The three circular routes have a total length of 4.8 kilometers, but can also be walked individually.

Ideal touring area for bikers

The spectacular panorama and diverse landscape also make Prad am Stilfserjoch a perfect area for all cyclists. For example, a bike tour leads mountain bikers around the "Montoni," where breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains can be enjoyed. The tour starts in Prad, then leads to the Pinethöfe and to the highest point of the bike tour, the so-called "Schartalm." Then it continues to the Ortler group, to the Stilfser Höfe, and then back to Prad via Stilfs.

Tip: In Prad am Stilfserjoch, tradition still plays a significant role. Winter expulsions such as the Maschgertanz, the Zusslrennen, or the Goaßlschnöllen are very popular, for example. Also very fascinating are the Heart of Jesus fires in June or the various customs during the Advent season.

8 Peaks March (Vinschgau)

During the 8-Peak March, even the stamina of hardened tour walkers is put to the test. As the name suggests, the goal is to climb 8 peaks in a good 12 hours and to overcome a total of 3,200 vertical meters.
