Kössen looks back on a long tradition as a trading center. It has always attracted many travelers, and tourism still plays a significant role today. In order to offer guests everything on their vacation wish list, a golf course was opened here in 1989. The lawn sports oasis is located in a flat basin, surrounded by green forests and mighty mountains.

It is the epitome of British golf architecture that awaits you on the 18-hole course here. Classic sportiness and an eye for the special, natural characteristics of the area were the focal points in the work of designer Don Harradine. With dedication to the English tradition of golf, he incorporated his designs into the respective landscape and used a clear formal language that nevertheless demonstrated high sporting functionality. It is no wonder that he was considered a specialist for grassy areas at high altitudes. Saudi Arabia, Angola, Athens, and Sylt are also part of his extensive portfolio.

Here in Kössen, the course measures 5,645 meters in length and has a par of 72. Occasionally, you will encounter a very gentle incline, but apart from that, there are no steep gradients to expect. These are only gathered around the course in the form of rock formations of the Wilder Kaiser and the Zahmer Kaiser. They are also welcome there, because when the foehn clouds gather at the edge of the basin and the mountain peaks mystically protrude from the ring of clouds, a fascinating panorama emerges. In combination with the tall tree giants of the surrounding forests and the colorful blooming alpine meadows, a wild romantic ambiance emerges that is still considered a hidden gem. A river and an idyllic pond complete the picture of the ideal Alpine golf course.

Welcome to the Club

The attractive clubhouse, as a pulsating base, shines in the elegant country house style from afar. With a winter garden and a sun terrace, the associated restaurant offers plenty of space for its club members, but also for non-golfers. Everyone is welcome here. And from here, you can see a lot – starting from the putting green to the practice area to the majestic mountain panorama. In addition to the culinary pleasure area, the clubhouse also has a cozy golf parlor, a club secretary's office, separate changing rooms for members and guests, and a well-equipped pro shop, where you can find everything for the ideal equipment as well as the most important designer sports brands.

Learning at a high level

The in-house golf school is led by PGA Golf Professional Douglas Nicoll. In addition to private lessons, you can also book group courses – a good tip, by the way, when it comes to company events. A joint golf course can bring enormous value to team building. There are also special summer camps available for children and teenagers, at the end of which a real tournament awaits as a highlight.

Of course, there are plenty of parking spaces available here. If you want to get an idea of the facility from home, the birdiebook provides you with a comprehensive view of the action and numerous information about the various golf courses at the facility. Further impressions, prices, and the current tournament calendar can be found on the official website of the Golfclub Kaiserwinkl Kössen. www.golf-koessen.at
