Mountain village in the national park area

Holiday in Solda (Sulden)

At an altitude of 1,840 meters, the small village of Solda / Sulden is located in the middle of the Stelvio Pass National Park area, with only around 400 inhabitants. Due to its special location and beauty, the village has always attracted mountaineers and winter sports enthusiasts. In addition, Solda is also one of Reinhold Messner's favorite places, where his yaks from Tibet live on the high alpine meadows. In the village, tourists can also visit the restaurant "Yak & Yeti" or the small museum Alpine Curiosa - also known as Flohhäuschen. Messner's cattle are led to the grazing areas at Madritsch at the end of June each year, accompanied by numerous guests and locals. Also worth seeing is the Messner Mountain Museum Ortles, which is underground and dedicated to the themes of "glaciers and ice."

Activities in summer

Solda is surrounded by numerous three and four-thousanders of the Ortler Massif. From here, mountain enthusiasts set off on climbing tours, but there are also various opportunities for leisurely hikes to explore the alpine meadows and high-altitude trails in the area. With the Solda cable car, you can reach an altitude of 2600 meters, from where you can explore the mountain world from the Schaubachhütte. In the valley of Solda, there is also the so-called "Cultural Promenade," an eight-kilometer circular route that passes a total of 12 museums and cultural sites, where visitors can learn a lot about the history of tourism in this region.

Activities in winter

In the cold season, winter sports enthusiasts enjoy themselves on a total of 44 well-prepared kilometers of slopes and then indulge in après-ski in rustic huts. Solda is extremely snow-sure, and the winter season usually starts earlier than in other regions. Freeriders and extreme skiers are drawn to the deep snow slopes, while freestylers and snowboarders can demonstrate their skills in the fun park with boardercross and halfpipe. Of course, the unique mountain world is also suitable for varied ski tours, which can be tackled with a guide or on your own. Worthwhile destinations include the Kleine Angelus, the Cevedale, or the Suldenspitze.
