Holiday in Seefeld in Tyrol

Seefeld at 1,180 meters above sea level is one of the top holiday destinations in the Alps. Located 20km west of Innsbruck and only about 10km from the German border, the location is also ideal in terms of transportation.

Together with the neighboring towns of Leutasch, Mösern, Reith, and Scharnitz, it forms the Olympic region of Seefeld. The popular resort gained international fame as the venue for the Nordic skiing events at the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck. Regular World Cup competitions in Nordic combined events take place here, and in 1985, it even hosted the Nordic Ski World Championships. The well-known Air & Style Snowboard Contest, popular in the snowboarding scene, was also held here from 2000 to 2004.

Winter in Seefeld

As a destination for your winter vacation, it leaves hardly any wish unfulfilled. In the annual ADAC test, it has been repeatedly awarded as the best cross-country skiing area, most recently in 2009. 266 perfectly groomed kilometers of cross-country ski trails of all difficulty levels delight beginners and professionals, with a balanced offering of classic and skating trails.

Alpine skiers and snowboarders will find two wonderful ski areas with varied slopes, which are regularly used for training by ski stars like Lindsey Vonn, Eric Guay, and Maria Riesch. Four toboggan runs in the Olympic region provide fun, 142km of winter hiking trails invite for extended walks, and there are also numerous wonderful routes for snowshoe hiking. An artificial ice rink is available for ice skaters.

Summer in Seefeld

In summer, the area shines as a hiking and mountain biking region. The range of wellness sports such as Nordic walking, aerobics, and gymnastics is also extensive, in addition to tennis, horseback riding, and several swimming pools. However, Seefeld is a true mecca for golf enthusiasts: The 18-hole championship golf course is one of the most beautiful in the world, and there is also the Golf Academy in the town center and the panoramic golf course at Geigenbühel.

The society life is very lively. People meet in the pedestrian zone while strolling or shopping in exclusive shops, they are seen in cafes, bars, restaurants, and hotels, or they spend the evening at the casino. Seeing and being seen is simply part of holidays in Seefeld.

The hotel industry is at an international top level, and the Olympic region has the highest density of 4 and 5-star hotels in all of Austria. Here you will always find a hotel that meets your holiday dreams, with individual offers ranging from wellness to themed weeks to dance evenings. There is simply nothing standing in the way of your dream vacation.

In the 15th century, a sovereign rarely demonstrated closeness to the people through his residence. The Hofburg, built by the Habsburgs, was already considered one of the most beautiful secular buildings of the late Gothic period under Emperor Maximilian I.
