Because it shares part of the route with the ski slope, it is closed during the day to avoid any interference.
The railway, which is 7 kilometers long and is one of the longest toboggan runs in the Alps, can be easily reached with the Silvretta cable car. However, the ascent is also possible on foot. In this case, you start the tour at the footpath above the church at the foot of the mountain and follow it to the middle station. The further course, which is easy to find, will eventually take you to the mountain station, where the toboggan run starts right by the Alpenhaus.
The course itself is rated as "easy", which is why families with children are welcome here. A snowmaking system ensures well-prepared slopes - from around mid-December to early April.
So, after dark is when the fun begins. The track is illuminated with floodlights every Monday and Thursday. The lift operates from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
You can stop for a meal at the Restaurant Idalp right at the mountain station, which offers live music and a supervised kindergarten. In the self-service restaurant, you can enjoy Tyrolean specialties and classics such as Germknödel and Tiroler Gröstl. If you prefer something more upscale, you can indulge your culinary desires in the gourmet area of the restaurant, where you will of course also be served.
Music events and après-ski parties are a big deal in Ischgl, so there is always a colorful entertainment program that is very popular, especially among young people. The recurring "Top of the Mountains concerts" bring international stars here every year. And at times, fascinating snow sculpture competitions are also held.
You can find a sled rental at the mountain station of the Silvretta cable car. The inventory also includes modern racing sleds that provide plenty of speed. Conveniently, you can return the sleds at the end of the run. This eliminates the need to return them at the mountain station.
However, please note that ski passes are not valid for the toboggan run, except for season tickets - you will need your own ticket here.
