In the Stubai Valley, you can not only toboggan during the day, but also at night thanks to the excellent lighting on four tracks. Every Wednesday the track at Schlick 2000 is illuminated, three times a week the Elferbahnen Neustift can be used at night and the tracks of the Serlesbahnen open twice a week after dark. The toboggan run of the Brandstatt-Alm and the toboggan run Gleins are even constantly open day and night. A ride from the Elfer to the Pinnistal is very romantic, as flaming petroleum lamps illuminate the track.
Tip for a Tyrol vacation: Tobogganing in the Stubai Valley
Expansion of the toboggan run Gleins
The toboggan run Gleins was completely rebuilt this year. The entire track was widened and safety padding or protective walls improved. In addition, signs were placed at the start, finish, and curves, and lighting conditions were optimized. Moreover, the toboggan run was submitted for the Tyrolean Natural Toboggan Run Seal of Quality and will be classified this winter.
Best infrastructure and service offerings
In any case, the twelve toboggan runs offer extremely varied possibilities. The track lengths vary, and visitors can choose whether they want to climb up on foot or prefer to use the lifts. Sledges can be rented at different places in the Stubai Valley, including the sports shops in Mieders, Fulpmes, or Neustift, or the mountain railways Schlick 2000 and the Serles and Elferbahnen. Rental options are also available at many huts where the individual tracks start. For tobogganers, snowshoe hikers, and winter hikers, the Stubai Winter Card is also available, which allows you to use the lifts on five out of seven days.
Culinary highlights
Of course, a tobogganing excursion would not be complete without stopping at a rustic hut. Countless huts are available for winter sports enthusiasts, where they are pampered with traditional regional cuisine and where one can comfortably wind down an exciting tobogganing session.
