In the region around the Reschen Pass, which connects the Vinschgau with Tyrol, there are many beautiful holiday communities. One of them is Curon / Graun. It is located at 1520 meters above sea level and includes the main town of Curon village, as well as the hamlets of Langtaufers, Reschen, and St. Valentin an der Heide. In the entire municipal area, about 2500 people live where Italy, Austria, and Switzerland meet. Every year, holidaymakers from all over Europe are drawn here. This may well be due to the beautiful landscape in which Curon is nestled. Impressive mountain ranges and alpine pastures are just a stone's throw away - a true paradise for nature lovers. For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, numerous panoramic and themed hiking trails are available. However, mountain climbers and climbers also get their money's worth. The landscape around Curon is rocky and rugged - ideal conditions for challenging climbing tours.
In the cold season, it also remains sporty. As many as 4 large ski areas are located in the immediate vicinity: Schöneben, Haideralm and Nauders (they belong to the Reschenpass ski area) and the no less attractive ski area of Maseben. It becomes especially romantic when the Reschensee freezes in winter. Then the ice surface transforms into a winter wonderland. Ice skaters glide enjoyably over the smooth surface, while on the other side of the lake, ice sailors wait for the perfect gust of wind. There is plenty of accommodation such as hotels, guesthouses, and holiday apartments for their vacation here.

The village of Curon is especially known for one thing: the church tower that rises from Lake Reschen. In 1950, an artificial reservoir was built here, which was intended for power generation. This resulted in the old village of Curon simply being "removed" and the residents being resettled further up the mountain. The area was then flooded. Only the historic church tower of St. Peter's Church, which is visible from a distance, still reminds of the "old" Curon. Today, it is a popular subject for photos and postcards. After all, the visitor is offered a unique picture here: a Romanesque church tower standing in the middle of Lake Reschen and surrounded by a breathtaking mountain backdrop.
