In the back of Passeier, where the valley is steep and the atmosphere is very alpine, lies the municipality of Moso. It includes 5 hamlets, including: the main village of Moso, Platt, Pfelders, Stuls and Rabenstein. If you love a fresh breeze and a rough climate, you should definitely plan your next vacation in Moso. The town center is located at 1007 meters above sea level, surrounded by impressive mountain ranges. Here you are in the middle of the Texel Group National Park, which guarantees an unspoiled nature and hiking experience. Numerous well-signposted routes invite you to discover the beautiful surroundings. You can hike past clear mountain lakes, through shady forests, and across lush meadows. Even if your thoughts wander, one thing you never lose sight of here: the magnificent panorama of the imposing mountain world.
While everyday life takes a break, mobility in Moso is emphasized. The municipality is one of the 20 "alpine pearls". This is an association of holiday communities that focus on sustainability and authenticity in the holiday experience. Following the motto "vacation without a car", holidaymakers in Moso can experience how liberating it can be to move around in an environmentally conscious way. You can appreciate the beauty of nature much better and leave the stress of a strenuous car journey behind. The Moso district of Pfelders is also "car-free". Only locals and holiday guests are allowed to drive into the town center here. Getting from A to B is done with the village express (a small train) and two shuttle buses.
Moso in Passiria
A museum to touch
A visit to the bunker Mooseum in Passeiertal is an experience for young and old alike. Together with an information center of the Texel Group Nature Park, a special showroom has been created here. In an unusual environment, you can learn interesting facts about the first settlements in Passeiertal, the surrounding flora and fauna, and the mining on Schneeberg in Hinterpasseier. Children can sharpen their sense of discovery and learn a lot about nature and landscape in the museum in a playful way.
The architectural special feature of the Mooseum immediately catches the eye from a distance. The bunker not only rises high, it is also "climbed". A artificial climbing wall has been built directly on the building, which has 6 different routes. In addition, you can also climb on a 30-meter high rock, which offers a total of 18 routes. The special thing: thanks to generous glass areas, museum visitors can watch the athletes conquer the climbing wall. If you want to climb yourself, you need the appropriate equipment and a little courage, and then you're ready to go.
Unique panoramic road
The road over the Timmelsjoch also leads to lofty heights. It is the highest drivable road and is located between Austria and Italy. Starting from the Ötztal Alps, you make your way down to Moso. Once you have crossed the Scheibkopf tunnel, which is located at an impressive 2650 meters above sea level, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the back of Passeiertal. In order for the drivers to enjoy the surrounding landscape, there are many hairpin bends and lay-bys along the route that invite you to linger and marvel.
