In the picturesque Vinschgau you will find the municipality of Parcines / Partschins. It is located just a few kilometers from the popular spa town of Merano and offers everything a holidaymaker's heart desires. Here you will find peace and contemplation, cooling off on hot days, and joy in numerous culinary delights. Starting from Parcines, the famous Texel Group rises - for this reason, the municipality has the greatest differences in altitude in the region. The village of Rablà lies gently in the valley at an altitude of 525 meters, while the highest point of the municipality is at 3337 meters above sea level on the summit of Roteck. Where nature is so close at hand, there is nothing standing in the way of wonderful hikes and exciting sports activities.
In Parcines, you can do almost anything: paragliding, rafting, climbing, cycling, archery, swimming, golfing, horseback riding, and of course, playing tennis or soccer. In total, the holiday region offers 240 km of marked hiking trails. Those who want to go higher take one of the panoramic cable cars and before you know it, you are at a lofty height of 3000 meters.
Parcines and Rablà
Refreshing water worlds
Especially on hot summer days, any kind of cooling off is in high demand. While some are drawn to the impressive mountain world around Parcines, others seek refreshment in the water. The Partschinser Waterfall is a popular meeting place for big and small water rats. You can't swim here, but you can watch the water fall 97 meters deep. The water masses, which can amount to between 4000 and 10000 liters per second after heavy rains, plunge over a freestanding rock into the depths. A natural spectacle of a very special kind. Those who want to feel the healing power of the water on their own body should participate in a "waterfall cure". Such cures have a positive effect on the entire organism and lead to a thorough cleansing of the mucous membranes. This is a real treat, especially for city dwellers plagued by fine dust. Tip: The brave can abseil directly from the waterfall under expert guidance.
It also gets cool and wet along the so-called "Waalwege". In the 15th century, "Waale" were built to secure the water supply in the village. The great drought caused many farmers in the region to struggle, and therefore deep and long channels were dug to transport the water from the streams to the fields. The Waalwege were something like access or fortification paths. Today, you can hike on them wonderfully. The Partschinser Waalweg and the Rablander Waalweg offer plenty of shade and an impressive animal and plant world.
The history of the typewriter
In the age of computer technology, it is hard to imagine that books, texts, and letters were painstakingly written on typewriters. The inventor of the typewriter, Peter Mitterhofer, lived in Parcinesfor a while and also developed the first edition of a wooden typewriter there. To honor the South Tyrolean pioneer, a typewriter museum was built directly in the village. Over 200 unique exhibits trace the history of the famous machine. This is indeed a journey into the past, which is especially exciting for the younger generation.
