Slightly above Burgstall, at an altitude of 1200 meters, lies the small municipality of Verano / Vöran. Around 950 people live here, and everyday life is characterized by unspoiled nature and thoughtful coziness. In addition to the main town of the same name, Verano / Vöran also includes the districts of Aschl, Hinterkofl, Unterdorf, and Leander Alm. The history shows that this piece of earth was very popular many centuries ago. Official records and mentions of the place name date back to the 8th century.
The mild climate and the many hours of sunshine counted here annually still attract numerous visitors to Verano / Vöran. Especially active holidaymakers and nature lovers find their personal paradise high above the Etschtal. The leisure opportunities are almost limitless: if you want, you can stroll across lush meadows and gently situated hamlets or simply enjoy the view of the beautiful surrounding mountain world. In winter, both young and old skiers can let off steam in the popular ski area Meran 2000. More than 40 well-prepared kilometers of slopes await snowboarders, skiers, and carvers.
Tipp: young skiing beginners are in good hands here. The local ski schools are part of the "Specialized Children's Ski Schools South Tyrol" association and therefore offer playful approaches and ideas to make the first "steps" in the snow easier.

Sports and Pleasure
However, it is not only in winter that sports enthusiasts can enjoy themselves, but also in summer, because something very special has been created around Verano / Vöran for Nordic walking fans. In the Walking Park Meran, active holidaymakers will find many different walking routes and circular paths. Nordic walking gently challenges the body and muscles and is therefore the ideal sporting activity for a holiday. This way, the body gets a little exercise without being too strained. Advantage: even untrained holidaymakers can do Nordic walking. It is like a slightly faster walk; if you want, you can also use Nordic walking poles for support.
On a total of 7 panoramic routes, the beautiful alpine environment takes center stage alongside the sporting activity. The individual routes have different levels of difficulty and are color-coded. In addition, along the paths, you will find many tips and instructions on how to achieve the best for yourself and your body while Nordic walking. Of course, the given routes are also ideal as varied running routes. Even in winter, a careful piste team ensures that the paths are free and safe to walk on.
A hike to the so-called "Knottnkino" should also not be missed. The hike starts directly in Meran and from there you walk for just over an hour towards Rotsteinkogel. There, at an altitude of 1456 meters, there is a very special "open-air cinema" created by the Meran artist Franz Messner. Weather-resistant chairs made of steel and chestnut wood invite visitors to marvel and linger. Here you can take a cozy break and let the magnificent view work its magic on you.
