Fit on vacation
Anyone who thinks that you can only take it easy in Postal / Burgstall is mistaken. Numerous hiking and cycling trails in the region invite you to be a little more active. Tip: you can really exert yourself on the “Graf-Volkmar-Weg”. It leads through predominantly shady forest areas for almost 2.5 kilometers and is both a walking path and a fitness course. Along the route, there are numerous stations available where you can get your body in shape. The "Trimm-Dich-Pfad" (fitness trail), which is located on the southern part of the route, ensures that you can work up a sweat even on vacation.
A hike to the Tschögglberg also requires a bit of endurance. It is located slightly above Postal / Burgstall and is accessible via a narrow, steep ridge. The effort is worth it – from up here, you have a wonderful view, especially when the sun sets picturesquely over the valley. For those who want to spare their joints and knees, the Burgstall-Vöran cable car serves as a gentle ascent aid.
Sights
It was probably a castle that once gave the small town of Burgstall its name. The knight Volkmar von Burgstall had his stately residence here from 1280 to 1342, of which unfortunately little remains today. The castle was destroyed during military conflicts and was not rebuilt. Today, the ruins of Burgstall are a popular destination for young and old. Via the "Graf-Volkmar-Weg" (named after the famous owner of the castle), you can reach the remains of the stately residence. The square tower, a residential building, and parts of the ring wall are still recognizable.
