Selva dei Molini-Lappago

The Mühlwaldtal, a side valley of the Tauferer Ahrntal, leads in a wide arc into the heart of the Zillertal Alps. Mühlwald at 1,220m above sea level and Lappach at the end of the valley at 1,436m are places of peace and relaxation in untouched nature. Here, vacation is still vacation, here you can relax in your hotel far from stress and everyday life. The water flowing from the mountains is omnipresent: streams and waterfalls rush, mills and saws testify to how humans have harnessed the forces of nature.

In this holiday region around Mühlwald and Lappach, there are plenty of opportunities for sports and wellness. The Mühlbach valley is particularly fascinating for hikers and mountaineers. Enjoyable hikes, Nordic walking, and romantic alpine hikes are just as possible here as high alpine mountain tours and climbing in the regions of the mighty three-thousanders like Hochfeiler or Großer Möseler. Mountain bikers also find the ideal holiday destination here, and for those who like even more action, there is the opportunity to try rafting, hang gliding, or paragliding. And in the two high ropes courses of the Tauferer Ahrntal, you can test your skill, fearlessness, and courage.

A unique wellness experience is offered by the Kneipp facilities and the climatic tunnel in the former Prettau mine, whose pure, allergen- and pollen-free air is especially beneficial for allergy sufferers and people with respiratory problems. In terms of cultural attractions, the mention of Castle Taufers and the mining museum in the Kornkasten in Steinhaus is noteworthy.

Mühlwald and Lappach also have a lot to offer for winter vacations. In addition to numerous routes for winter and snowshoe hikes and ski touring, it is primarily the ski areas Speikboden, Klausberg, and the Kronplatz, which is only half an hour away, that attract skiers and snowboarders. For cross-country skiing, the Tauferer Ahrntal holiday region offers around 55 km of trails and also has access to the "Dolomiti NordicSki" (DNS), Europe's largest cross-country skiing carousel with a total of 1,000 kilometers of trails! For those hungry for action, there is the new trend sport of snow rafting, and for lovers of "classic" winter pleasures, there are several ice rinks and eight great toboggan runs.

You can choose your accommodation for your vacation in Mühlwald and Lappach from a wide range of hotels, guesthouses, bed and breakfasts, and holiday apartments. The hotels score with high-quality facilities and first-class, personal service as well as numerous wellness and beauty facilities. In general, great emphasis is placed on family-friendliness, and the hotels have a lot to offer to meet the needs of their large and small guests.

Behavior in the High Mountains

High up, surrounded by a breathtaking mountain panorama, different rules apply than down in the valley. The weather turns faster, a planned tour sometimes requires more effort than expected, and a small misstep can sometimes necessitate an early return.
