Dobbiaco / Toblach

This municipality, also known as the "Gateway to the Dolomites," is located in the Hochpustertal in eastern South Tyrol. The town consists of two parts, Old and New Toblach, is located at 1,256 meters above sea level, and has just over 3,000 inhabitants.
The location at the entrance of the Höhlensteintal allows for a great view of the Tre Cime, which has given the town another nickname, "Municipality of the Three Peaks." The special location of Dobbiaco / Toblach: It borders two nature parks, Fanes-Sennes-Prags and the Sexten Dolomites.

Gustav Mahler already recognized the beauty of the municipality and spent the summer months in his composing house here. In his honor, the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks take place annually, where numerous artists and orchestras perform their pieces.

Active or relaxed hiking tours

The area around Dobbiaco / Toblach is a popular hiking region, with recommended excursions to the Nature Park House and the WaldWunderWelt. For an active hike, the Toblacher Pfannhorn is suitable - for those who prefer a more leisurely pace, the Kalvarienberg, the oldest Stations of the Cross in Tyrol, is a good choice. In addition, Lake Dürrensee and Lake Toblach, as well as the surrounding nature experience trail, offer relaxation and adventure. Here, while hiking, you can learn interesting facts about the flora, fauna, and geomorphology of the Toblach area.

In the cold months, many tourists want to go skiing. Dobbiaco / Toblach is located in the midst of three ski areas: Hochpustertal, Kronplatz, and Cortina. Downhill skiing, tobogganing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, winter hiking - the selection of winter sports is large.

For variety, there is a high ropes adventure park, which consists of six courses with different difficulty levels. Here, both young and old will get their money's worth.

Events and festivals

Your vacation will certainly not be boring: In addition to the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks, Dobbiaco / Toblach also hosts the Dolomiti Balloon Festival, the Cortina Dobbiaco Cross-Country Ski Race, the International Choir Festival, and the Dolomiti Superbike.

Culturally, the Herbstenburg and the 5 Passion Chapels are interesting, which can be found along the Maximilianstraße.
