Holiday in Sesto

Sesto / Sexten, the gateway to the Tre Cime in the Sexten Dolomites National Park, is located at an altitude of 1,300m directly on the border with East Tyrol. The "landmark" of the town is the Tre Cime, one of the most famous mountain ranges in the Alps. It is no coincidence that a chamois adorns the coat of arms of the municipality. While Sesto / Sexten is no longer a hidden gem today, you can still find peace and relaxation away from the crowds. The hotel and restaurant industry offer the perfect setting for your vacation at the highest level; hotels, guesthouses, and holiday apartments offer all the comfort you could wish for on your holiday. The wellness and beauty offer is particularly extensive. Enjoy a vacation in one of the first-class wellness hotels and treat yourself to relaxation and regeneration for body and mind.

Sesto in summer

The Dolomites - UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2009 - are one of the most beautiful areas for hiking and mountaineering, especially the picturesque Fischleintal is the starting point for numerous wonderful tours. And the Tre Cime have always been a dream destination for every mountaineer. There are also plenty of opportunities for sports activities in the summer: cycling on the Sexten cycle path and through the entire Pustertal, mountain biking in the surrounding mountains, climbing in the Dolomite walls or in Italy's highest indoor climbing facility, Nordic walking, as well as golf, tennis, rafting, and paragliding.

In winter, the snow-sure ski areas of the Hochpustertal invite you to ski and snowboard, and there are wonderful cross-country ski trails for cross-country skiers. Sesto / Sexten is a real Mecca for ski tourers and snowshoe hikers. There is also plenty of winter fun when tobogganing, even at night on certain days!

As for cultural highlights, Sesto / Sexten is home to the parish church of St. Peter and Paul with ceiling frescoes by the South Tyrolean painter Rudolf Stolz, who also has a museum dedicated to him in the town center. A "Dance of Death" by Stolz can be admired at the entrance to the cemetery.

High up, surrounded by a breathtaking mountain panorama, different rules apply than down in the valley. The weather turns faster, a planned tour sometimes requires more effort than expected, and a small misstep can sometimes necessitate an early return.
