Vacation in Sölden

Located at 1,368 meters above sea level, Sölden is the third largest tourism community in Austria after Vienna and Salzburg. The town has primarily made a name for itself as a ski and winter sports center. In addition to modern infrastructure and a wide range of leisure activities, the fusion of traditional way of life and architecture with modern lifestyle and comfort is particularly appealing.

Winter vacation

35 ski lifts and 150 kilometers of well-groomed slopes await alpine sports enthusiasts. Due to the high altitude of the area (up to 3,340 meters), there is guaranteed snow cover from October to May. In addition, the glacier ski areas on the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers are integrated into the ski lifts. A special highlight is the 15-kilometer descent from the BIG 3 platform to the valley. Professional outdoor sports instructors and equipment rental are available on site. For several years, the FIS Ski World Cup season has been opened in Sölden in October. At this major event, spectators can watch the ladies' and men's competitions live and marvel at the courage and skill of the competitors. For those who are not fans of alpine winter sports, there are excellent opportunities for tobogganing, cross-country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, and winter hiking. Adventurous individuals can get an adrenaline kick by paragliding over the magnificent mountain landscape. After winter sports, those with energy to spare can end the day with après-ski or turn the night into day in the numerous bars and clubs.

Summer vacation

Those who want to be active in summer are in the right place in Sölden. The charming area entices with beautiful mountain lakes, rustic alpine pastures, and worthwhile peaks. A total of 300 kilometers of marked hiking trails of varying difficulty levels lead through the surrounding mountain landscape. For those who do not want to hike on their own, there is a guided hiking program available. Mountain bikers also appreciate the wonderful routes and single trails. Bike rental and services are available on site to immediately solve any equipment problems. Some cable cars are also in operation in summer and take mountain sports enthusiasts to the optimal starting points for their tours. Additionally, Sölden is a wonderful place for climbing, and there are optimal conditions for rafting, canyoning, and kayaking or canoeing.

Behavior in the High Mountains

High up, surrounded by a breathtaking mountain panorama, different rules apply than down in the valley. The weather turns faster, a planned tour sometimes requires more effort than expected, and a small misstep can sometimes necessitate an early return.
