Welcome to paradise

Holiday in the Ötztal

The most prominent side valley of the Inn Valley, the Ötztal, attracts holidaymakers year after year with its renowned tourist resorts. With a length of 65km, the Ötztal is also the longest side valley of the Inn Valley and consequently also the longest transverse valley in the Eastern Alps. At the southern end, at the high main Alpine ridge with its numerous three-thousanders, winter sports enthusiasts enjoy fabulous conditions for skiing and snowboarding in the glacier ski area. The scenic and varied valley is located in the Imst district, amidst a magnificent mountain landscape. You will discover the valley entrance 50km west of the Tyrolean state capital Innsbruck, from where you can easily reach it in a 30-minute drive via the A12.

Extremely interesting hiking, mountain and climbing tours crisscross the entire scenic region. The levels of difficulty range from very easy to highly challenging. The dense network of snack stations and managed alpine huts, the many shelters of the Alpine Club, and the consistently well-marked hiking trails make the area a true hiking paradise. In the Ötztal Alps lies the second highest mountain in Austria, the Wildspitze at 3,774m, whose conquest is a "must" for mountain sports enthusiasts.

Fun and Action in Summer

Motorcyclists rave about special highlights that should not be missed when planning the next motorcycle tour in the region: the winding Hantenjoch and the continuation over the 2,500m high Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road towards Merano.

Adventurers and those who prefer exciting holidays experience dramatic canyoning tours in the Auerklamm at the entrance to the Ötztal region. Fans of whitewater sports also rave about the Inn section between Imst and Haiming or Silz. For those who still want more, a whitewater rafting trip on the Ötztaler Ache is an option, but only if you have strong nerves! Those interested in paragliding can find particularly favorable take-off spots in the rear Ötztal on the Giggijoch (Sölden), at the mountain station / Vent, and on the Hohen Mut (Obergurgl).

Further tips:
For relaxation and unwinding, we recommend a visit to the Längelfeld "Aquadome" thermal baths in the middle of the Ötztal. The three thermal basins, which literally float in the air, give visitors a special feeling of weightlessness.

The Ötzi Village in Umhausen in the Ötztal is an archaeological open-air park that aims to demonstrate to visitors "life, living, and economy in the Neolithic period," Ötzi's time.

Skiing and Snowboarding in the Ötztal

Several top ski areas, often with mountain stations well above the 3,000m mark, make the Ötztal a snow-sure paradise for skiers and snowboarders. At the entrance to the valley, the family ski area Hochötz scores with 34 kilometers of slopes and snow guarantee until mid-April. In the rear valley, you will find the world-famous ski area Sölden/Hochsölden with the two glacier ski areas Rettenbachferner and Tiefenbachferner. In winter, Sölden is one of the best that the Alpine region currently has to offer in terms of winter sports. Further into the valley are the ski areas Obergurgl/Hochgurgl for skiing at the highest level and of course Vent, a tip for insiders.

A well-known cross-country skiing area is Niederthai in the Ötztal, among others not mentioned here.

A wellness hotel in the Ötztal is a guarantee for a charming holiday. Culinary highlights, charming hospitality, impeccable customer service, dreamy beds, and a variety of wellness offerings meet even the highest demands.
