Enjoy YourVacation in the Schwaz District
At Jenbach, about 40km east of Innsbruck, the Zillertal branches off from the Inntal. At the well-known holiday resort of Mayrhofen, the Zillertal divides into smaller source valleys, which are also called "Gründe". To the west of the Zillertal are the Tux Alps and to the east are the Kitzbühel Alps. In the south, at the high Zillertal main ridge on the border with South Tyrol (Italy), there are several well-known three-thousanders. From the valley entrance to Mayrhofen, only 100 meters in altitude need to be overcome in the widest side valley of the Inntal. More than 35% of the Zillertal region is protected as the Zillertal Alps High Mountain Nature Park.
Summer vacation in the Zillertal
One of the most diverse hiking areas in the Alps is the Zillertal. To explore the diverse landscape, a comfortable ride on a cable car is often organized at the beginning. After a short mountain ride, you can hike in healthy, high-altitude air in the allergy-free area and enjoy beautiful mountain panoramas. The Zillertal theme trails in particular draw attention to the beauty of the valley. On interesting and varied hikes, you can discover cultural sites, rural cultural landscapes, and unique natural landscapes. The more than 800km of well-maintained cycling routes in the Zillertal, in all levels of difficulty, from beginner routes to technically and physically demanding mountain bike trails, also make the area a paradise for cyclists and mountain bikers. Several pools, a thermal spa, natural alpine lakes, the Zillertal steam train, and numerous climbing areas round off the range of activities for active vacationers in the summer.

Skiing and snowboarding in the Zillertal
The Zillertal is a ski area of superlatives. With 430km of slopes, 150km of cross-country ski trails, numerous halfpipes, and state-of-the-art ski lifts, there is nothing standing in the way of a sporty ski vacation in the Zillertal. Zell am Ziller is the right address for family-friendly winter sports. If you are looking for fun and action, we recommend the well-known ski resort of Mayrhofen with the new ski area "Ski-Zillertal3000" and numerous trendy meeting places. Further up the valley, you will find the villages of Tux / Hintertux and the popular Hintertux Glacier ski area with breathtaking mountain panoramas.
Also recommended is a guided tour of the largest cave in Tyrol, the Spannagel Cave. Thrill-seekers will be in their element on a ski tour to the Hoher Riffler or a tandem paragliding flight. Several restaurants in the region offer excellent cuisine and great views of the impressive Zillertal glacier world.
Achensee
The Achensee, located in the Achental (north of Jenbach), forms the border between the Brandenberg Alps in the east and the Karwendel in the west. The Tyrolean Sea, as the locals call it, is the largest lake in Tyrol with a depth of 133m. The region around the clear mountain lake, with its excellent water quality and good underwater visibility, is a popular holiday region for hiking, biking, sailing, surfing, and diving in the summer.
Summer vacation at Lake Achensee
Lake Achensee is suitable for many water sports such as sailing, surfing, swimming, rowing, fishing, pedal boating, diving, canoeing, kayaking, etc. Hikers, cyclists, and mountain bikers will find extremely attractive routes and trails directly at Lake Achensee or in the Karwendel Nature Park. Did you know that there is a beautiful, newly built, gently sloping 18-hole course at the Golfclub Achensee between Lake Achensee and the Karwendel Mountains at an altitude of 950m? Golf enthusiasts will be thrilled.
Winter Vacation in the Achensee Region
Whether you travel to Maurach, Pertisau, or Achenkirch on the shores of Lake Achensee, the idyllically hidden Steinberg, or to Wiesing, the southern gateway to the Achensee region, the journey via the A12 is very uncomplicated. For unspoiled winter sports enjoyment, there are 200km of cross-country ski trails, over 30 ski lifts, and 150km of cleared hiking trails for winter hiking. The world-famous snowbike region successfully takes care of the contemporary successor& of the good old skibob. Ski tourers rave about the touring areas in the Rofan and Karwendel Mountains.
