Vacation in Mayrhofen in Zillertal

Mayrhofen in the Zillertal is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Tyrol. The Zillertal Alps with their three-thousanders (Großer Löffler, Ochsner, Zigismondyspitze and many more) offer a holiday full of peace, relaxation and wellness, but also plenty of opportunities for active sports.

Tourism in Mayrhofen dates back to the 19th century, when the first mountain huts were built in the Zillertal Alps. The holiday region experienced another upswing with the construction of the Zillertal Railway in 1902. From the 1950s, investments were made primarily in the construction of cable cars and lifts, making Mayrhofen an internationally renowned holiday destination. In addition, Mayrhofen is also a popular congress location and, with the newly renovated Europahaus in 2010, offers an excellent setting with state-of-the-art infrastructure.

The selection of hotels and holiday accommodations is correspondingly large in line with Mayrhofen's reputation. The standard of the hotels is high, and the service is first-class. You can be sure to find a hotel according to your wishes, whether it's a wellness hotel, cozy family or romantic hotel, sports hotel, or exclusive design hotel. Modern facilities and wellness areas as well as a sophisticated ambiance make your holiday stay an exclusive experience.

For summer holidays, the Zillertal Alps offer countless hiking opportunities, from leisurely valley and alpine hikes to mountain tours in the eternal ice regions. There are also plenty of fantastic routes for mountain biking. In total, there are 800 km of cycling and mountain biking trails in the Zillertal, up to an altitude of 2000 m, as well as a dedicated bike area on the Action Mountain Penken!

The new Run & Walk Park Mayrhofen/Hippach is open to all running and Nordic walking enthusiasts. Climbing, paragliding, rafting, kayaking, canyoning, hydrospeed, horseback riding, and tennis are also part of the extensive leisure activities. There is also plenty of holiday fun in the summer world of Hippach (adventure pool, beach volleyball, playgrounds...) and in the adventure pool in Mayrhofen (indoor pool with giant slide, outdoor pool, beach volleyball...).

In winter, the Zillertal is a unique and highly modern ski area. A total of 42 cable cars and lifts and 159 kilometers of slopes make skiing and snowboarding in the winter holidays an almost limitless pleasure. In addition, there is a halfpipe, a fun park, and also the steepest groomed slope in Austria with a 78% gradient! Cross-country skiers have around 30 km of trails available, and there are also three toboggan runs and an ice rink, as well as several fitness centers and a bouldering hall. The Zillertal Alps are, of course, also a fantastic area for winter and snowshoe hiking and ski touring.
