Vacation in Tux and Finkenberg

The Tux Valley, a high valley in the Zillertal, lies at an altitude of 850 to 3,250 meters and attracts countless tourists every year. Since 2008, the towns of Tux and Finkenberg have been part of the Zillertal Alps Nature Park.

Winter vacation

Due to its high altitude, the Tux Valley is absolutely snow-sure. The Zillertal 3000 ski area offers 245 kilometers of slopes and the most modern ski lifts. The glacier circuit is particularly popular, where you can overcome 15,000 meters of altitude in one day. You can enjoy skiing on the Hintertux Glacier all year round, which boasts 86 kilometers of slopes. The Skiline system records the individually skied routes according to altitude profile and time course and offers the possibility to review your own ski day. The local sports shops offer suitable equipment for sale and rental, and in the ski and snowboard schools, you can get tips and tricks from experienced outdoor teachers.

For those who prefer to enjoy winter fun away from the hustle and bustle, there are optimal conditions for ski tours on the Hoher Riffler (3,228 meters), the Tettensjoch (2,276 meters), or the Rastkogel (2,762 meters), for example.

In addition, the region offers an attractive range of activities for cross-country skiing, winter and snowshoe hiking, and ice skating. Activities such as ice stock sport or tobogganing offer a fun change of pace.

There are numerous managed alpine pastures and huts in the area that invite you to have fun and some of them also offer overnight accommodation.

For children, there is a 1,000 m² play hall in the Playarena. Here, games and children's activities are offered, and there is a kindergarten at the mountain station of the Eggalmbahn, where the little ones can romp around outside or play indoors in the warmth.

Summer vacation

You can also enjoy skiing at the Hintertux Glacier in summer.

In the region, there are 350 kilometers of marked hiking trails and walking routes of varying difficulty levels, leading through the surroundings and to the surrounding peaks and mountain lakes. On longer tours, you can spend the night in a mountain hut or alpine pasture. If you don't want to set off on your own, you can take part in guided tours.

Free hiking buses ensure that guests arrive safely at their destination.

The Eggalmbahn and the Finkenberger Almbahnen are also in operation in summer and provide easy and convenient access to higher regions for mountain enthusiasts.

The via ferratas in the region are also very popular, with difficulty levels ranging from A (easy) to E (extremely difficult). The high ropes course at the Zemmschlucht was built between trees above the gorge and offers spectacular experiences of varying difficulty levels.

Cyclists and mountain bikers also find wonderful conditions. The routes range from leisurely family tours to challenging trails in the mountains or cycling routes on paved roads.

Paragliders can take individual or tandem flights from the Eggalm, Penken, or Hintertux Glacier.

In the outdoor pools in Hintertux and Finkenberg, fun bathing awaits, and there are also three tennis facilities and a squash court available.

At Tux and Finkenberg, attractive holiday programs are offered for children, ranging from hiking to visiting the Gletscherflohpark.

The "Zillertal Activcard" offers numerous discounts and reductions for various facilities throughout the entire Zillertal.

Behavior in the High Mountains

High up, surrounded by a breathtaking mountain panorama, different rules apply than down in the valley. The weather turns faster, a planned tour sometimes requires more effort than expected, and a small misstep can sometimes necessitate an early return.
