Have fun in theHoliday at the Achensee
The Achensee is located north of Jenbach between the Karwendel Mountains and the Brandenberg Alps. With a depth of 133 m and an area of around 6.8 km², it is the largest lake in Tyrol. The popular holiday resorts Achenkirch, Maurach, and Pertisau are located on its shores. Together with Steinberg am Rofan and Wiesing in the Inntal, they form the Achensee holiday region. Untouched natural landscapes and many sports activities offer relaxation, wellness, as well as variety and entertainment during the holiday.
As early as 1900, the region was developed as a tourist destination, with prominent guests such as the writers Peter Rosegger and Ludwig Ganghofer. Since 1889, the Achensee cog railway has been chugging and puffing from Jenbach to Maurach; it is still in operation from May to October and is now the oldest cog railway in Europe!

Stylish hotel facilities and warm service make the holidays unforgettable, numerous additional offers and special packages guarantee wellness and relaxation.
In the summer holiday, the lake itself with its fantastic water sports opportunities (swimming, sailing, surfing, kiting...) and the surrounding fantastic mountain landscape are of course the focus. The wild and romantic Karwendel Mountains in particular offer countless hiking and mountain biking routes. By the way, hikers can also discover the mysterious inscriptions that are located in a cave at Schneidjoch. They are dated to 400 BC by science and attributed to the Etruscans. They were declared European cultural heritage, but their meaning has not been deciphered to this day.
Climbing, running, and Nordic walking, paragliding, tennis, and horseback riding are also part of the leisure activities for your summer holiday. Golf enthusiasts have two beautiful courses available around the Achensee. The Golfclub Achensee, founded in 1934, is the oldest golf club in Tyrol and the second oldest in Austria. The Senior Golf European Championship was held here in June 2010 and 2012. A family adventure is the Achensee Adventure Park with a forest rope climbing garden and adventure playground. Another holiday attraction is the Tyrolean shale oil Vitalberg and the largest private Lipizzaner stud farm in Austria.
In the winter holiday, the Achensee region is a cross-country skiing paradise with 200 km of trails of all difficulty levels. Three wonderful ski mountains with 30 ski lifts and 58 km of slopes invite you to ski and snowboard. Of course, winter hiking, snowshoeing, ski touring, and tobogganing are also part of the offer. Those hungry for action can try ice climbing or new trend sports such as snow biking and snow tubing.
