Thurn Castle, whose history dates back to the 12th century, was once the center of the court 'Thurn an der Gader'. It therefore makes a significant contribution to the history of the Dolomite Ladinians, who are the descendants of the Romanized original population of the country and as such the oldest of the three language groups living in South Tyrol. The language, culture, and history of the Ladinian population of the Dolomite region are presented in multimedia form. Topics include archaeology (settlement history, Sotciastel, from the Rhaetians to the Ladinians), history (princes, judges, subjects), the Dolomites (formation, discovery, development), the Ladinian language and identity (language lab, arts and crafts), the economy (settlement forms of the Viles, Iron Road), and the observation tower (Ladinoscope).
