Messner Mountain Museum at Juval Castle
The 700-year-old Juval Castle, towering high above the Schnals Valley and owned by the South Tyrolean extreme mountaineer Reinhold Messner since 1983, was opened for viewing in 1995.

Visitors can reach Juval Castle on foot or by shuttle bus (from the Juval parking lot), where they can visit the courtyards and a dozen rooms. During the summer months, when the owner Reinhold Messner himself stays in the Vinschgau, the castle remains closed. Reinhold Messner has renovated the castle and has given it his personal touch with an extensive collection of Tibetica, a collection of masks from five continents, and a collection of mountain pictures. Thus, the Renaissance building today also resembles a Tibetan monastery fortress.
