The Hohe Weißzint is part of the Zillertaler Alps and is located between South Tyrol and the Austrian state of Tyrol. From spring to May is the best season for exciting ski tours here.
The tour starts above the Neves Reservoir – cross the dam and walk along the western shore of the lake. Follow the summer path through the light forest landscape until you reach the Pfeifholder Valley. Continue following the course through the valley. Soon you will notice that the path to the forest boundary is not a major challenge for your fitness. Just before you reach the Edelrauthütte, turn right and follow the ascending course of the large steep slope until you reach a plateau.
The next point on our plan is to climb the Weißzintscharte through a wide but not too steep bowl. Once you have reached the top, you can tick off another three-thousander, as the Weißzintscharte is at an altitude of 3,183 meters.
But we do not stop here – the high-altitude tour continues. Through the gap, you reach the Gliederferner. After a flat section, where you need to watch out for crevasses, it goes steeply up along the summit until you reach a ridge with a ski depot. The last few meters to the summit are then a little easier to manage and you have reached 3,371 meters, where the Hochfeiler and the Große Möseler move into your field of vision.
The way down is again via the ascent route. If the snow conditions allow, you can keep to the right from the lower section of the Pfeifholder Valley and descend directly to the reservoir over a steep part.
