Reschen am See is the name of the village, and the deliberately created reservoir once buried the villages of Graun and Reschen in its eternal floods. Today, an idyllic village scene can be seen here again, and from here begins the ascent to Vallierteck, where the natural toboggan run has its origin.
The way up must be accomplished with human power, as there is no lift here. It takes about 45 minutes for the ascent. But time flies when you trudge through the winter landscape and enjoy the beauty of the regional nature.
If you want to plan a stopover, you can pay a devout visit to the Wallfahrtskirchlein Vallierteck. The small chapel was built in 1886 and is accessible via a Stations of the Cross from the village. The tobogganing fun for the entire family begins at Vallierteck, at an altitude of 1,500 meters. A moderately steep route – easy to moderate – leads down a length of 1.5 kilometers to Reschen. A height difference of 150 meters is mastered.
Particularly beautiful impressions for eternity can be had during moonlit tobogganing – for this, the nocturnal route is illuminated, and that daily until 11:00 PM. And after a toboggan ride under the stars, the mulled wine, which smoothly rounds off the day in a mountain hut, tastes even a touch more aromatic.
Also, competitions by toboggan clubs take place here now and then, indicating how well the track is suited for winter sports. Several toboggan rentals can be found in the village.
