Sledding: Söll Witch‘s Ride

The name already suggests quite a bit. But not only witches get their money's worth here, as the local toboggan run with its alternating tight and wide curves and its steep sections is one of the more challenging representatives in Tyrol.

South of Söll, you slide along the Salvenberg for about 3.5 kilometers towards the valley.

Before the valley station, you will find plenty of parking spaces. The Hochsöllbahn, a modern 8-person gondola lift, takes you to the starting point of the tobogganing fun in seven minutes. Here you can strengthen or warm up in the Alpengasthof Hochsöll. From the mountain station at 1,150 meters altitude, it then goes over narrow switchbacks to the Stampfangerbach. The further path runs through a narrow valley to a small chapel.

Almost during the entire descent, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the impressive mountains of the Wilder Kaiser. Sturdy safety fences at the edge of the slope ensure that no one takes a dangerous shortcut unintentionally. Of course, sports enthusiasts also have the opportunity to climb up on foot. To do this, take the little-used road that leads away from the parking lot. The path takes you over meadows and through forests and takes about 90 minutes. This variant is more advisable than to dare the ascent directly along the toboggan run. The latter often proves difficult when the number of tobogganers increases.

At both the valley station and the mountain station, you have the opportunity to rent a toboggan. Snowmaking systems ensure perfect conditions from December until late March.

From Wednesday to Saturday, the lights are turned on late in the evening from 18:30 to 21:30. Then you whiz under a nocturnal starry backdrop and past illuminated witches towards the valley.

The area also has another toboggan run, which is exclusively for night operation - the so-called moon toboggan run (3.8 kilometers) is also open from Wednesday to Saturday from 18:30 to 22:30 and has three stations that can be used for waiting breaks. Since it reaches a width of more than 8 meters and is much less steep than the Hexenritt, it is very suitable for children and beginners.
