Knottnkino
Cinema done differently: on the Rotsteinkogel near Vöran in the Adige Valley, you can enjoy a unique cinema experience at an altitude of 1,465 meters.

It is probably the longest film that one can see in a cinema, and it is played non-stop: every day, every month, all year round. You can only see this film in this special cinema, and you are guaranteed not to get bored, because each screening is different from the one before.
The idea for this unique cinema comes from the Bolzano artist Franz Messner. In 2000, this project was finally realized. 'Knottn' means 'rock' in the South Tyrolean dialect, and the Knottnkino is consequently not located in a building, but in the great outdoors on a rock. 30 weatherproof cinema chairs made of stainless steel and chestnut wood were installed on the red porphyry rock of the Rotsteinkogel - 'Roatstoanknottn' as the locals say. They invite all hikers to take a seat and enjoy the fantastic panorama that opens up here.
Depending on the weather, the view extends far over the Adige Valley and the Burggrafenamt to the Ulten and Passeier valleys. On the horizon lie the mighty peaks of the Texel Group, the Dolomites, and the Ötztal Alps. Weather, clouds, sun, and the seasons change the panorama, the colors, and the mood: in this cinema, nature alone directs, and this spectacle affects the viewer sometimes magnificently, sometimes contemplatively, sometimes joyfully, sometimes melancholically, but always uniquely and irretrievably.
The Knottnkino can be reached on a beautiful hike from Vöran. From the inn 'Grüner Baum' in Vöran (1,317 m above sea level), the Schützenbrünnlweg (path no. 12) leads across the sunny plateau of the Tschögglberg to the Rotsteinkogel. A circular hike via the Leadner Alm back to the 'Grüner Baum' is also possible. The walking time is each 2.5 to 3 hours.
Enjoy in the Knottnkino the greatest nature film that exists. And the best part: This film is guaranteed to have no commercial breaks.
