480 vertical meters / 4h
Above Telfs, at the foot of the Hohe Munde, this snowshoe hike begins, leading you over dreamlike snow-covered nature trails to the Rauthhütte with its viewing platform.
Point A in this case is the parking lot at Buchner Höhe. Attention: Fees apply here. Here a signpost draws attention to the so-called Katzenloch, which concludes the first stage of this moderate hike. Heading south, the path ascends over an open meadow to a forest clearing, from where it then goes out of the forest onto a wider path over alternating terrain - partly across meadows and also crossing cross-country ski trails. Continue to follow the signposts until you have reached the first stage destination - the Katzenloch.
But it goes on. To the north stretches a steep switchback route, which leads you to an altitude of 1,550 meters.
Follow the signposts to the Rauthhütte. Not much longer, and you have reached the plateau of the hut - and thus the final stage goal. A little more than 1,600 meters above sea level, you see a panorama that is not only filled by the mighty Hohe Munde but also offers views of the Karwendel mountains, the Leutasch and the Wetterstein mountains. The hut itself has a restaurant (with a stove room and sun terrace), where hearty home-cooked food is served. Overnight stays in rooms or in dormitories are also possible. Even four-legged friends are welcome here.
For the way back, the route via the toboggan run is suitable. On the one hand, this provides variety, on the other hand, you are less likely to get in the way of ski tourers here.
Once you have descended to about 1,300 meters, you can hike along the toboggan run to the Bichlwald and just before Taxach branch off to the district of Moos. Through the Rappental and again through the Katzenloch, the path continues on the road and soon you are back at point A - the parking lot.
The approximate 480 vertical meters are reflected in about 3 hours.
