This idyllic community in Badia can look back on a long tradition of tourism. The beautiful landscape in and around the village inspires hikers, winter sports enthusiasts, or vacationers who simply want to relax. For couch potatoes, the region is nothing - nature invites you to extensive walks, mountain bike tours, or picnics.
San Cassiano / St. Kassian
The hiking paradise
For adventurous hikes in the Dolomites, the climbing walls of Conturines, La Varella, Settsass, and Lagazuoi are ideal. These not only inspire climbers with challenging rocks, but also with a unique panoramic view of the region. Those who go on a hiking tour should make a stop at the so-called Russian Chapel, which is located on the Valparola Pass. In the cold season, the ski areas Kronplatz and Alta Badia are ideal for winter sports. Here, cross-country skiers, as well as those who want to race down the slopes, get their money's worth.
San Cassiano / St. Kassian not only offers a beautiful landscape and first-class hotels, but also some Michelin-starred restaurants. As a tourist, you should definitely try the traditional South Tyrolean cuisine. For example, delicious Kaiserschmarrn is on the menu.
The cave bear of the Dolomites
If you like to visit museums, you should plan a visit to the Ladin Ursus ladinicus. The facility is part of the Museum Ladin Ciastel de Tor in St. Martin in Thurn - but it is located in St. Kassian. Here, visitors can explore the life of the prehistoric cave bear of the Dolomites on three floors. A trip to the Lagazuoi tunnel is also recommended. This can be reached from the mountain station of the Lagazuoi cable car.
There are many comfortable hotels available for accommodation. For a more traditional option, the quaint inns or farms are recommended.
