Vacation in Alta Badia

Alta Badia is a holiday region in the southern Gadertal. It includes the municipalities of Corvara, Abtei and Wengen and has a lot to offer its visitors: In summer, the Dolomites attract for relaxed walks, active hikes or challenging climbing tours. The mountains can also be explored by mountain bike. One thing not to be missed at high altitudes: a break in one of the rustic mountain huts serving traditional South Tyrolean cuisine. For example, the delicious Kaiserschmarrn is recommended.

Accommodations for your holiday are available in Alta Badia in every type and price range: From wellness hotels, to holiday homes, apartments and guesthouses, to holidays on the farm. This is particularly popular with families, as children can be very close to the farm animals. For those who want to enjoy the panorama of the Dolomites at any time, a room with a balcony is recommended.

Winter vacation

In winter, the region is all about winter sports: skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing or ice skating - the choice is great. Here, competitions of the Ski World Cup are also held, which attract numerous visitors. You are never left high and dry here: because if there is too little snow, artificial snow ensures carefree fun on the slopes. For cross-country skiing fans, the cross-country skiing center at Sare Armentarol is ideal. For those who find all of this too strenuous, romantic walks or carriage rides through the winter landscape are enjoyable.

Regardless of the season - Alta Badia is surrounded by an idyllic landscape. The Gader river runs through the area, which later flows into the Rienz. In addition, the mountain massifs of the Dolomites provide a beautiful mountain panorama. A trip to the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park, which is home to the beautiful Pragser Wildsee, is recommended.

A long history

Alta Badia has a long tradition: even the Romans were fond of the region. The Ladin way of life persisted here for a long time, as the valley was previously difficult to access from the outside due to the mountains. Even today, many locals speak Ladin - it is sometimes still taught in schools and used in newspapers.

Snowparks in South Tyrol, the absolute hotspots!

In addition to the ‘classic‘ alpine skiers, the freestyle scene has gained an ever-increasing following in recent years. This is not only with the audience, which is naturally thrilled by the spectacular and often immensely acrobatic competitions in the young disciplines, but also among a growing number of participants.
