Winter vacation

In winter, the region is all about winter sports: skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing or ice skating - the choice is great. Here, competitions of the Ski World Cup are also held, which attract numerous visitors. You are never left high and dry here: because if there is too little snow, artificial snow ensures carefree fun on the slopes. For cross-country skiing fans, the cross-country skiing center at Sare Armentarol is ideal. For those who find all of this too strenuous, romantic walks or carriage rides through the winter landscape are enjoyable.

Regardless of the season - Alta Badia is surrounded by an idyllic landscape. The Gader river runs through the area, which later flows into the Rienz. In addition, the mountain massifs of the Dolomites provide a beautiful mountain panorama. A trip to the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park, which is home to the beautiful Pragser Wildsee, is recommended.

A long history

Alta Badia has a long tradition: even the Romans were fond of the region. The Ladin way of life persisted here for a long time, as the valley was previously difficult to access from the outside due to the mountains. Even today, many locals speak Ladin - it is sometimes still taught in schools and used in newspapers.

Behavior in the High Mountains

High up, surrounded by a breathtaking mountain panorama, different rules apply than down in the valley. The weather turns faster, a planned tour sometimes requires more effort than expected, and a small misstep can sometimes necessitate an early return.
