Nova Ponente

A holiday in South Tyrol is promising: blooming meadows, glowing mountains, and refreshing lakes in the summer - plenty of skiing fun in the winter. One holiday destination that has practically everything to offer is Nova Ponente / Deutschnofen. With almost 4000 inhabitants, the municipality combines the districts of Petersberg, Eggen and Obereggen as well as the village of Nova Ponente / Deutschnofen. This spot on earth is beautifully situated, surrounded by several mountain ranges, such as the Schlern, the Rosengarten, and the Latemar. Wherever you look, you'll see a charming mountain panorama.

Not only the scenery, but also the well-developed paths invite you to extensive hiking tours through the landscapes. The Eggental and the high plateau above the Etschtal, where Nova Ponente / Deutschnofen and the pilgrimage site Maria Weißenstein are located, are particularly beautiful. Three themed hikes are organized every week: You can choose from a summit, an herb and flower, or a geological hike. There is certainly something for everyone. If you want to enjoy a magnificent view from the beginning of your hike, you can take the regular bus service to the most beautiful starting points.

It is particularly recommended to visit the St. Helena Church. The church is located on a hill, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the landscape. You should also see the interior of the church: There are very beautiful wall paintings from the High Gothic period of the 15th century to admire. For example, there is a painting program of the birth of Christ, which is impressive not only for religious visitors.
And off we go: A popular pilgrimage site is Maria Wallenstein, which should definitely be included in a hiking tour. There you will find a church, a pilgrim house, a souvenir shop, and an inn.

For those who prefer to spend their winter holidays in Nova Ponente / Deutschnofen, they naturally like to pass the time with one thing: skiing. In fact, the place is a paradise for winter sports fans. Because in the Ski Center Latemar Obereggen, just 7 kilometers away, skiers and snowboarders can really let off steam on a 49-kilometer long slope. Cross-country skiers also get their money's worth here: 60 kilometers of trails are available. Those who like it fast can have fun on the 2 toboggan runs - numerous winter hiking trails provide a contrast. There is also something for the little ones: in the village, the children can zoom down a practice slope.

The accommodation options in Nova Ponente / Deutschnofen are varied: from luxurious wellness hotels to simple apartments, everything is available to visitors of the place.

If you would like to take a day trip, you can visit the regional capital of Bozen - it is only about half an hour away and is highly recommended with its many sights.
