Laives

Leifers (ital. Laives), the youngest of the eight South Tyrolean cities (since 1985), was originally known as a port. This sounds unbelievable, but in the Middle Ages the Adige was still a much-traveled river. With the construction of the railway, shipping disappeared, and today Laives / Leifers is primarily a modern small town with a southern flair and lots of greenery. The leisure activities are huge and range from gentle wellness to a variety of active sports. Holidays in Laives / Leifers offer something for everyone!

Since 2004, the city has also had a new, distinctive landmark with the New Parish Church. The old, medieval church was integrated into the new building as a sanctuary. Also worth a visit is the 13th century St. Peter's Chapel on the Köfele. The cultural offering with a festival in summer and numerous events throughout the year is rich, and there is also the proximity to Bolzano. Last but not least, Carnival is also celebrated extensively and exuberantly here.

The hotel industry is of the usual high standard in South Tyrol, unobtrusive service and individual care make your holiday a feel-good experience. Whether with generous wellness areas or special family or beauty offers, the hotels fulfill every guest's personal wishes. In a hotel in Laives / Leifers, you will always feel well taken care of during your vacation.

The holiday activities are diverse: hiking is a year-round sport; countless hiking trails lead to Breitenberg, Leifers' local mountain, and it is not far to the Trudner Horn National Park and the Dolomites. The pilgrimage route to Maria Weißenstein, the most popular pilgrimage site in Tyrol, also begins in Laives / Leifers. In the cold season, you can go winter and snowshoe hiking.

Cycling is the second attraction for summer holidays in the lower valley. Whether in the wonderfully wide landscape of the valley with its endless apple and vineyards, or with the mountain bike up the mountains, here (almost) no limits are set for biking. Also on offer: Nordic walking, tennis, horseback riding, and swimming in outdoor and indoor pools, in the fine hotel pool or in the nearby Montiggler Lakes and Lake Caldaro. Laives / Leifers is ideal for motorcyclists, many beautiful tours to the Dolomite passes or to the south can be started from here.

You will also get your money's worth on a winter vacation! Skiing in Laives / Leifers means: Obereggen. With 18 modern lifts and 40km of ski slopes, the Obereggen Ski Center Latemar offers unadulterated fun for skiing and snowboarding. There are also several toboggan runs and over 100km of cross-country ski trails available. For ice skating, you will find beautiful artificial and natural ice rinks.
