The wine village

Ora / Auer

Anyone who wants to spend their vacation in nature is in the right place in Ora / Auer. The tranquil town is located between apple and vineyards and is an ideal starting point for extensive hikes through the beautiful landscape. A tour to the Castelfeder biotope, which houses various interesting plant species, is recommended. The attraction is located on a hill at almost 200 meters. From up there, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Etschtal. In addition to ponds, marshes, and rocks, the remains of an old castle can be visited here. On the way to the biotope, you will also discover the waterfall of the Schwarzenbach. For mountain bikers, the former route of the Fleimstal Railway is an experience. The "Vecia Ferrovia", as it is also called, leads slightly above Ora / Auer from Neumarkt via San Lugano to the Fleimstal. Those who prefer to cycle in the valley should stick to the Etsch cycle path.

Ski fun in Dolomiti Superski

In winter, of course, the skis can be taken out. Half an hour's drive away is the "Dolomiti Superski" ski area, where beginners as well as professionals can engage in winter sports in all possible variations. In Ora / Auer itself, there is an ice rink that guarantees extensive ice skating fun.

Sights and day trips

During a sightseeing tour, the following sights should be on the list: The parish church of St. Peter is definitely worth a visit, because the oldest organ in the Alpine region is located in the Romanesque-Gothic building. Also worth seeing is the Marienkirche in the historic town center.

The Markusmarkt takes place annually on April 25th. Here you can admire various stands that offer clothing or all sorts of sweets, for example.

If you want to take a trip, you can drive to Bolzano, which is only 16 kilometers away. For the regional capital, you should definitely take a day, as there are many sights to see, such as churches, castles, and museums.

Visitors to Ora / Auer have various accommodation options: In the town, there are hotels, guesthouses, inns, or holiday apartments available.
