Approximately 25 kilometers south of Bolzano or about 5 kilometers south of Lake Caldaro, Termeno / Tramin is located on the South Tyrolean Wine Road. The idyllic town, which is situated about 50 meters above the Adige Valley, is surrounded by vineyards and hills where Mediterranean plants such as cypresses, figs, olives, and lemons thrive.

The landmark of the town is the brick bell tower of the Gothic parish church of Saints Julitta and Quirikus. The parish church houses remarkable frescoes and the baroque high altar with the altarpiece by Martin Knoller. The church of St. Jakob in Kastelaz is said to stand on the remains of a Roman temple of Isis. In the Romanesque left nave, there are special frescoes in the apse, showing so-called bestiaries (hybrid creatures of humans and animals). These are the oldest Romanesque frescoes in the German-speaking world. The right, Gothic nave also features beautiful frescoes. The cemetery church of St. Valentin is characterized by a late Romanesque tower with a Gothic spire. The building has an early Gothic nave with later frescoes in Venetian style.
At the village museum on the town hall square, numerous everyday objects and tools can be admired, documenting the rural life and work of past times. Termeno / Tramin has a number of buildings that bear witness to the region's long and eventful history. During a tour of the town, visitors can visit the Old Wine Cooperative, the Freisinger Hof, the Holy Spirit and Josephi Hospital, Rechtenthal Castle, and historical mansions.
Summer vacation
The surrounding area of the town invites visitors to take long walks and mountain tours. You can take a walk on the Cholera Trail around the town or go for a hike to Lake Caldaro. Experienced hikers can walk the Traminer Hoehenweg, which takes five to seven hours to complete. In six to nine hours, you can climb the challenging via ferrata over the Überetscher Hut to Roen, Tramin's local mountain. For cyclists and mountain bikers, there is an extensive network of cycling paths, ranging from easy paved routes to challenging single trails and off-road options, offering something for everyone.
On the outskirts of Termeno /Tramin, there is a sports and adventure outdoor pool that will delight any water enthusiast. In the vicinity, there are a number of lakes, foremost among them Lake Caldaro. At Lake Caldaro, you can also go windsurfing, sailing, and fishing.
Termeno / Tramin also has a climbing hall, a minigolf course, as well as tennis and soccer fields. In Petersberg, about half an hour's drive from Termeno / Tramin, there is an 18-hole golf course.
Winter vacation
In winter, you can indulge in skiing at the Ski Center Latemar, Jochgrimm, Alta Val di Non, Reinswald, or Rittner Horn, or enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and winter hiking to your heart's content.
Wine
When visiting Termeno / Tramin, a tasting of regional wines is a must. The Gewürztraminer, also known as "liquid gold," enjoys international renown among wine connoisseurs. Around this wine, Termeno / Tramin regularly hosts a series of events. Lake Caldaro is also well-known beyond the borders of Italy.
