Trodena / Truden
Hiking
From mid-April to early November, Trodena / Truden is an ideal destination for a hiking holiday. The Trudner Horn Nature Park is the most species-rich area in the region. Particularly remarkable are the flora and fauna of the wetlands, as well as the combination of alpine and Mediterranean species. Guests will find a wide network of walking and hiking trails, offering a broad spectrum of easy to challenging routes.
A circuit around the Cisloner mountain via the Cisloner Alm offers a magnificent panoramic view from the Hochwand.
The Trudner Hoehenweg trail leads in four and a half hours from the town center over the Ruine Pera-Schupf to the Ziss-Sattel and back to Trodena / Truden.
On the E5, the European long-distance hiking trail that leads from Brittany across the Alps to Verona, one can reach the Horn Alm from Trodena / Truden. When descending, be sure to take a break at the Schwarzensee. Overall, you should plan for a five-hour hike, which will reward you with a magnificent view and an unforgettable nature experience. The gentle, round ridge of the Cucul (Cisloner mountain) also invites you to go for a hike.
Mountain Biking
Cycling enthusiasts will also get their money's worth in the Trodena / Truden area. Especially the tour from the village to the Ziss-Sattel and further up to the Krabesalm, then down to Altrei and further over Kaltenbrunn back to Trodena / Truden is popular with mountain bikers. Active holidaymakers can expect a two and a half hour ride.
On a not too difficult route, you can also circumnavigate the Trudner Horn in about three hours. A beautiful tour takes three to three and a half hours from the village to the Ziss-Sattel and the Horn Alm, down to Altrei and further to San Lugano and Kaltenbrunn, from where you can return to Trodena / Truden on the main road.
Other Activities
In the Truden-Mühlen climbing garden, daredevils can test their skills and agility all year round. Over 60 routes with difficulty levels from 3 to 7a are available in the limestone cliffs, with the majority having difficulty levels of 5a, 6a, and 6b. In Trodena / Truden, you can also play tennis or let off steam on the "trimming path".
Nature Park House Trudner Horn
In the visitor center of the nature park, housed in a mill, you can learn interesting facts about the plant and animal life of the area, such as scorpion species, lichens, ants, amphibians, and much more.
You can also listen to the stories of the charcoal burners or learn about the almost extinct work of peat cutters.
In addition, the fully functional mill can be visited. Here, it is also shown how bread was once baked in a wood-fired oven, and visitors are of course allowed to taste the bread on the spot. The visitor center also regularly hosts special exhibitions on the topic of the Trudner Horn Nature Park and various events. The adventure workshop and children's afternoons are particularly recommended for families. The nature park house is open from early April to early November.
