Magrè / Margreid in the south of South Tyrol offers its visitors a vacation in nature: No matter where you look, you see vineyards and mountains – a particularly beautiful ambiance. 131 hectares of vineyards and 191 hectares of orchards extend over the municipal area. At the Feichtner residence, even the oldest grapevine in South Tyrol grows along the house wall, still bearing fruit – it is said to have been planted in the year 1601.
The village is located on the right bank of the Adige, on the border with Trentino and consists of the place Magrè /Margreid and Unterfennberg. The center is very worth seeing: The Fenner stream flows right through it, which, along with the cute alleys and historic architecture, makes the village a feast for the eyes.

The most famous son of the town
In Magrè / Margreid is the birthplace of the artist Karl Anrather. Art enthusiasts may recognize this name: He is the most important painter of South Tyrol and has created, among other things, the work 'The Fortune Teller'. In the village itself, one can also admire one of his forms of creation: Namely the allegorical seasons on the corner tower of the Löwengang residence. During a sightseeing tour, one should pay close attention to the artwork.
Nature in every season
Those who want to venture out into the green can do so on extensive hiking tours: The route to Fennberg Lake is recommended. The 2 hours 30 minutes climb is definitely worth it, because from up there you enjoy a magnificent view of the Wiggerspitze as well as the St. Leonard's Church, a Romanesque building on a nearby hill. For winter sports enthusiasts, the Jochgrimm or Reinswald ski areas offer exuberant skiing fun. So, whether winter or summer – you certainly won't stay in your hotel room for long in Magrè / Margreid.
