Located opposite Tyrol Castle, at the entrance of the Passer Valley, it has itself become a focal point of Tyrolean history. Built in the 14th century and expanded several times until the 16th century, it was purchased in 1844 by Archduke Johann of Austria, whose descendants still own it today. The former archducal residence is dedicated to the history of Tyrol with a focus on Archduke Johann and Andreas Hofer. In addition, it displays various collections: from medieval weapons to 17th-century firearms to French cannons. The museum is also richly stocked with furniture and paintings from the original equipment.
